Hi I'm Douglas

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I was 3 years old or so, my parents moved to Washington state. I spent my entire childhood growing up there, and came to love the beautiful outdoors that the Pacific Northwest had to offer. I love hiking, backpacking, camping, mountain biking, or anything else you can do out in the woods and mountains. After I graduated high school I went to Brazil on a mission. I love the people and language there, and hope to spend more time there again someday. After two years I came back, went to school (at BYU-Idaho), met a girl, got married, and graduated with a degree in Graphic design. I've recently moved back to Washington, and and am anxiously awaiting whatever the future holds in store for my wife and myself. In addition to playing outdoors I also enjoy Photography, Board games, nerd games like Magic: The Gathering, and Video Games.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many others, I was born to parents who were already members of the church. However, this did not change the fact that I had to also find out for myself if it was true. I came to find out that this church is in fact true during my teenage years. I never doubted it was true, but there came a time when that wasn't enough, and I needed to truly know for myself. As I sought out Heavenly Father, in personal prayer, He witnessed to me through the powerful feelings of the Holy Ghost that what I was living was indeed true. As I've sought to draw closer to Him and to repent of my sins through Jesus Christ, I continue to have my faith renewed by those same feelings. I've felt these feelings of love, peace, and happiness through the Holy Ghost so forcefully and powerfully that I cannot deny their truthfulness. I would encourage anyone who truly wants to know what is right to ask God himself what is right. Because he is our loving Heavenly Father, we know we can trust His response to us.

How I live my faith

I try my best to live each day how God would have me live. I find great peace, joy, and happiness as I serve those around me be it family, friend, neighbor, or stranger. Serving, helping, and uplifting others for me can be anything from a simple smile to someone I pass by in the grocery store to helping out at the local food bank. At church I currently serve as a substitute Sunday School teacher. I prepare lessons and teach any class from the 11 year-olds up through the adults as the need arises. This is my favorite part of the week, and I love to share what I know with others and to learn from what others have to share with me as I teach.
