Hi I'm Todd

I am a husband, father, and student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a beautiful woman from Mexico and my wife and I have three beautiful children - two of whom were recently diagnosed with autism. I enjoy reading and running and spending time with my family. I am currently getting a PhD in Iberian literature and culture so I am really busy, but I love learning new languages (I speak English, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese and French), and learning and teaching about the culture of Spain.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and have been active in the church all my life. However, there have been several key moments in my life when I have had to evaluate where I stand regarding the things of God. Through prayer and careful study of God's word I have come to learn for myself that Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God, and that the church Christ established in ancient times has been re-established in our day. I follow the gospel because I love God and because I know that He loves me. My is so full of joy. Even when things are tough I know that He is watching out for me.

How I live my faith

Faith is fundamental to the way I live my life. I begin each day with some personal time in which I pray and study God's words in the scriptures. I also take time each day to pray and study the scriptures with my wife and children, and we try to teach the kids to love and help the people around them. Each month, I visit a couple of families in our congregation. I share with them a short message about Jesus and find out if there is anything that the church can do to help them out. I also work with the Boy Scout troop sponsored by our congregation.

What is being a Mormon like?

Todd
This is a really good question, and a bit difficult to answer. I think that life for me is not terribly different from the life of other young husbands and fathers. I work, I study, I help around the house, I play with my kids, I spend time with my wife. I enjoy music and dancing and novels and movies. I love to be outdoors. I do go to church for a few hours each week, and I spend at least a couple of additional hours each week fulfilling some kind of church-related responsibility. I might work with the Boy Scouts or go out with the missionaries to visit people. I also might spend time cleaning up at the church or a local park or helping a neighbor move. I pray each day and spend a little time reading the scriptures and I try to spend a few minutes each morning thinking about what I can do to be a better husband and father. I tell scripture stories to my kids and we sing church songs before we pray together as a family. Being a member of the church is a great way to live. I am happy and healthy and I genuinely love my life. Show more Show less
