Hi I'm Brendan George

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am going to college, studying Biophysics with the aim of going to graduate school to get my Ph. D. I love anything scientific! I have a passion for learning about how things work and why. Other than school and spending lots of time with my lovely wife, I am a cyclist at heart. I love it! I do it all the time! I go mountain biking and road biking, but I prefer mountain biking by a long shot. I've finished a few races, like the ICUP races in Utah and LOTOJA, and the Park City Point 2 Point mountain bike race. I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother and father are members of the LDS Church, and so I was born into the church, or into the faith. However, as I have grown up and become independent and had to think about what I want my life to be, I have had plenty of opportunities to question the faith of my parents. Why am I a Mormon? It makes sense. I have studied this gospel profoundly and have found answers to every question that I have had. I have had many confirming experiences with the Book of Mormon, that it is another testament of Jesus Christ. I have tasted of the truth of that book. Having read it multiple times and having put it's principles into practice in my life, I have been more blessed than ever in my life. As I have put this faith to the test, it has inspired me to delve deeper in the gospel, to be a better person, and I can say that these are confirming evidences of the truth of this gospel.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have been delighted to help out any way that we can. Since we are all in roughly the same circumstance and phase of life, we can help eachother quite significantly. If there is someone that needs help moving in, or figuring out finances, or adapting to married life, or needs advice on anything related, we all help eachother. When you combine all of our experiences and trials, knowledge and wisdom, there is a great deal that you can learn about how to best live your life. So, my wife and I do what we can. I help move when I can, we meet our neighbors and extend our friendship and services to them with fresh cookies or brownies and milk, and we share what knowledge and experience that we have had with others.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Brendan George
When Jesus Christ was on the earth, he fulfilled the Law of Moses, the purpose of which was to help people believe in Jesus Christ who was to come. He put forth his new gospel and higher laws (Matt 5) and established his church. "And he gave some, apostles and some, prophets and some, evangelists and some, pastors and teachers..." Eph. 4:11-12 After a while, the apostles were all killed or chased off, leaving no one to administer or minister Christ's church and no one to guide the members. When there was no one left to correct the false and erroneous ideas of the members, unauthorized changes were made to the church. The members went astray and went off their own ways. The bible, the center of all of their information, was even hidden from the public, only to be read and taught by clergy. That same bible went through multiple translations and modifiations, with valuable information being simply taken out. Then, after translations and mutations, the teachings that the original members of Christ's church were combined into one book, taking out or simply leaving out many precious teachings in the publication of what we know now as the Bible. That Bible went through translations and changes as well, making different "editions" of the Bible, the most common of which in English is the King James version. The members, and the organization of the church, therefore needed to be restored to the original, unchanged truths that Jesus Christ taught. Show more Show less
