Hi I'm Colter

I'm a professional performer. I love the outdoors, electronics, theatre, music, and dance. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young adult and just graduated high school a few years ago. I enjoy spending time with my friends, reading, playing video games, and traveling. I also try to give service to others as much as possible.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, there comes a time in everyone's life when they realize they need to "grow up" and start thinking about the future. My parents brought me up in the Mormon church, which was a great support for me growing up, especially facing the difficult decisions and peer pressure of high school, but when I went away to college it hit me that my parents couldn't tell me what to do anymore. I was my own person and I needed to make some decisions for myself. One of the first was finding out personally if the church was really Jesus Christ's, because if it wasn't then there was no reason for me to continue living it. I remembered when growing up they encouraged all of us to find out for ourselves if God really had restored the church in our day and called a prophet today, so I acted upon that. I read the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ and then knelt down and prayed to my Heavenly Father to ask him if it was true. After all, if you want to know the truth you should go to the source. My prayer was answered in a very unmistakable way. It was also very personal for me and its hard to put it into words. The best way I can put it is by saying that my soul was overflowing with joy. Pure happiness. After learning for myself, I haven't looked back and decided to do whatever the Lord asks of me.

How I live my faith

I recently concluded serving a 2 year mission and teaching people about the gospel of Jesus Christ and inviting them to improve their lives. It was a wonderful experience for me as I've seen many people overcome addictions, face challenges, and become happier people and stronger families. I spent 2 years away from my home and family and friends to do so and I dedicated my life and time to the Lord in ways that I won't be able to later when I start a family of my own. I recently started college again and have been asked to participate in a committee to organize and put on weekly activities for other college students like myself, as well as singing in the church choir. I also take every opportunity I can to live as the Savior would, listening to people who are having a bad day, sharing encouraging advice, and answering questions people have about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Colter
Of course we do! When Joseph Smith was searching for the true church he looked at all the different churches around his home for answers, but the greatest direction he received was from the Holy Bible in James 1:5 where he gained the determination to ask of God for himself. The Bible also contains the mortal ministry of Jesus Christ, which is sacred in and of himself. Also, the Bible was written by ancient prophets who received answers and revelation from God. If we didn't believe that the ancient prophets truly received the word of God and taught it, then our belief in a prophet in our day would mean nothing. Show more Show less
