Hi I'm Joan Leslie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a native to Washington State. I am in my fifties and I work full time in the telecommunications industry. I love to take care of my animals and garden. I have two sons and a wonderful husband. I paint and write poetry, love my friends, family and church.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church about 4 years ago with my husband. We had been searching for some time. He had revelation about the church but I had my doubts initially. I had a lot of questions. The missionaries answered my questions with such honesty. When they gave me the Book of Mormon and asked me to pray about it, I read passage after passage thinking there must be something that would be contrary to my Christian belief, but what I found was so beautiful and was such a perfect companion to my Bible that I loved it. I testify that of all the books I have read, all the roads I have traveled, all the tears I have shed, none are as true as the path I am on now. This is the true church, I know it. I can never deny what my soul tells me is true.

How I live my faith

My last calling in the church was as a first counselor in the Primary. I love the children that I was responsible for. I was primarily responsible for the nursery to 7 year olds. I have had four callings in the church. Each one has helped me as individual grow. I have come to understand that God puts me in callings to help me, to allow me to grow and learn. One of the best things about joining the church has been joining the women in the church. I love the women I have met and found participating in visiting teaching to be fulfilling in ways I never dreamed possible.

What is being a Mormon like?

Joan Leslie
When I joined the church it was like coming home. I am and have always been Christian but looked for people who truly act on what they believe. I wanted to know people who took their faith with sincerity and lived in the example of Jesus. I found this with the church. True people, who go through the same kind of daily trials as I did but have an attitude of love, and actually help each other grow toward Christ. Show more Show less
