Hi I'm Mark

I'm a husband, father, a full time geek, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of 4 active and sometimes rambunctious children. We enjoy watching scifi TV shows together and making roadtrips to visit family and interesting places around us.

Why I am a Mormon

There was a time that I wasn't sure if being a Mormon was the right thing for me. I think I always knew that God was there. But did He really care what faith I belonged to? I decided to find out for myself if what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints taught contained the truth about God and His plan for me. It started with prayer. I wanted to know if God still used prophets today. I read a brief history of Joseph Smith and then I asked God if Joesph Smith was a prophet like Moses. I asked God to tell me if it was so. The answer didn't come as words or thoughts. It came as a feeling in my soul. It was a though I had found something I had lost once. I knew through the Holy Ghost that God does use prophets and that Joesph Smith was called to be a prophet of God. That truth has always been a part of my life since that time. That experience was 26 years ago and has been reinforced many times over the years on numerous occasions.

How I live my faith

I study and search the scriptures and the words of living prophets looking for topics that interest me. Each time I pick a theme or topic to study more in depth I feel greater and greater closeness to God. I love to research and understand everything at it's core. I recently have found the principle of fasting (going without food or drink for a period of time) has become such a blessing to me and brought such a deeper connection to God through this practice. My family and I set apart time each week to have a meal together, study religious topics, and sing and pray together. This has become a great source of strength to me because we all contribute to this effort in different ways.
