Hi I'm Richard

I strive to follow the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 4 adult daughters and a grandfather of 8. My wife and I have been married for 39+ years. I am retired and look forward to the second half of my life. I enjoy helping others. I enjoy "working out" and other physical activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I always had an historical belief in God and his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, but it was not enough to change my life. Even meeting the Mormon missionaries as a young married man was not enough to change my focus to the things of eternity. Then one day, these missionaries taught me again (I was a slow listener) about the divinity of the Son of God. This time it was different. The Holy Ghost bore testimony to my soul that Jesus was indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world. I committed to following Him and keeping his commandments through the covenant of baptism. My wife and I have had the blessing and privilege of raising our children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ as our guide. It has given us direction, peace and confidence in spite of our shortcomings. Now we see our children raising their children following these same principles. As the Savior said, He is the source of peace in this life and the hope of eternal life in the world to come. Each day brings new challenges, but they can be met with the knowledge that God is our Father and that he loves His children. Now that I am in the autumn of my years, I look back and thank the Lord for sending His servants to lead me to that straight and narrow gate that leads to life everlasting.

How I live my faith

The Savior taught that the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbor as ourselves. I find a great source of joy in serving God's children, starting with my own family. Whether it's helping to move someone, helping them cut their wood, or sitting down to counsel with them and listen to their problems, these actions draw me closer to God. I have served in my church in many capacities, from teaching the four-year old to speaking to congregations of hundreds. I strive to follow the counsel of Paul the Apostle by considering others better then myself.
