Hi I'm James

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a Farmer and Rancher in a small town in North Texas. I lived in a Community of friends and neighbors I had known all my life. My Wife an I have 2 children. I was a member of a local church and read the Book of Mormon to prove that it was not a true book of scripture... needless to say that didn't happen... after reading the Book I asked Our Heavenly Father if it was true... and I got my answer... I have never looked back. It was the single most important thing I've ever done in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

After I read the Book of Mormon... I had a clearer understanding of events and doctrine that were spoken of in the Bible. I also knew that the Prophet Joseph Smith who originally translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God was a true Prophet. The teachings contained in the Book of Mormon became a second witness to me of the Love of Our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ. I then knew that the Heavens were no longer closed and that we could receive personal revelation to help us on a daily basis. I also knew that his Church that he had established through the Apostles was again on the Earth as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As the world around us continues to get more chaotic and troubled, I have a sense of Peace because I know that God lives and cares about me and my Family. This knowledge is a direct result of my being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This knowledge about the nature of God and his purposes gives me purpose and peace about life.

How I live my faith

I now work in Family History and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. My calling has varied over the years from Leadership positions to the calling I currently have which is a Family History Consultant in our Ward. My life experience has been varied, Electronic Technician, Airline employee, Flight Instructor, Rancher, and Records Acquisition Specialist, all of these have given me satisfaction and purpose but only because of my membership in the Church. The doctrines of the Church teach me the answers to age old questions, Where did I come from, Why am I here, and Where am I going? The gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Church answers all of these questions and many more about my Heavenly Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Ghost. The gospel also teaches me how to behave and gives me guidance on how I can have the greatest happiness in this life and the life to come, both for me and my Family.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

James
We are not different than any other people that have a desire to Love our Family and want the best for our Families. We have a desire to live the Golden Rule... to bless the lives of our Friends and Families. We are truly Happy and because of our knowledge of the purpose of Life and about Our Heavenly Father and His Son we have a feeling of peace and truly desire to keep the commandments given to us through the Scriptures and our Inspired Leaders. What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

James
We believe the Bible is Holy Scripture and the word of God so far as it's correctly translated. I have found out more about the History of Scriptures and it's origins than I ever knew before joining the Church. In fact the Book of Mormon proves many events and doctrine spoken of in the Bible... they compliment one another and the Bible comes alive with the additional Scripture. Because the Bible consists of several different Books it becomes individual testimonies of the Saints and Apostles in the New Testament and the Old Testament records the words of God revealed to the ancient prophets and shows that Our Father has always intended for us to have information to help us return to him by obedience to his commandments.
