Hi I'm Ben

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or in other words I'm a mormon

About Me

I studied engineering and enjoyed learning how somethings work mostly electronics. I learned that God plans, designs, and built the beautiful world we live in. I enjoy learning new things and studying. I also enjoy hiking, biking, and camping. I typically see both sides of an issue even if I favor one side over the other. I feel that Jesus is a constant friend who is God and Lord over all. He forgives me when I give him my will and repent and because of his great love for us and because he does not want us to suffer like he suffered when he did an atonement for sin. In 2 Nephi 9:7 in the Book of Mormon talks about this. I understand the world because of math, this does not mean everything can be explained that way. But many things can be understood that way. I see Jesus as the Savior of the Universe things too big and infinite. But he has always been a mediator for peace in all things. We have to let go of the darkness and lies and still believe in him. Scouting has been a major influence in my life. I like that it teaches good character to young men. I have a lot of heroes and people that I like and have influenced me for good in my life, for them I am thankful.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was baptized when I was 8 years old and became a member of the Church. I also feel in my heart that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon are true. I have prayed about it and know in my mind and heart that it is true. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches true doctrine by real prophets and apostles today. I am grateful for the books, magazines, and manuals that the church produces that gives insight on how to be close to God and understanding on gospel doctrine. The true things I have learned have helped me avoid some dangerous paths in life and has helped me get through some dangerous paths of my life. True prophets warn people of dangers and pitfalls of life as well as counsel people how to overcome sin through repentance and baptism and people that listen to and follow their counsel find peace in this life.

How I live my faith

I read the Scriptures, I pray and I thank the Lord for his mercies each day. I accept the direction that I feel from the Lord and try to follow it. It is not easy and I am working on it.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Ben
I think that people call us Mormons because that is the term they are familiar with. We are Christians in that we believe Christ's teachings. He taught a discourse similar to the sermon on the mount in the Book of Mormon also. If you read in 3 Nephi 11-about 3 Nephi 18 you can read what the resurrected Christ said to people in the Americas. If you look for christian in the Book of Mormon you are led to Alma 46:13-16 Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Ben
1. Through Jesus Christ and his atonement for us. 2. As a Father we are children of God or Him. 3. As a child of Christ we continue to develop after this life is over living with him. 4. As a parent in this life and through marriage covenants we can become like him. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Ben
I think most members work normal lives and try to read the scriptures (mainly Bible and the Book of Mormon) each day. I think we all have problems in our lives mental, or emotional, or social or different things we have to go through. But I am grateful that the scriptures and words or modern prophets help us live better. Modern prophets have authority to act in the name of Jesus Christ as his apostles in these times. One aspect of my lifestyle that has given me much joy and strength is what is known as the Word of Wisdom. This is section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants. It proscribes what foods are good for man to eat such as grains, fruits and vegetables and other substances such as alcohol, tobacco, and coffee that are not suitable for man. Over the years by eating right I have felt much strength and health. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Ben
I believe faith is a trust in God. I think faith is believing in Jesus and believing what Jesus has said either in the scriptures or what we think about when we think of his example and his words. Faith is also just hoping for the best of life when we do the best we can. Sometimes we don't do our best and fall short, we try and don't always succeed. But faith is doing what's right even when we don't know how everything plays out in the end. Faith is also exercising hope in God. Faith includes good things that we do. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Ben
Atonement or Expiacíon in English At-One-Ment. Making mankind One with God. It was retroactive and still active for forever. Being the Heir to God, Jesus Christ giving his life as the son of God and through baptism and reception of the Holy Ghost having all power in heaven and on earth therefore the life of the only Begotten Son of God satisfies the laws of justice and allows God to extend mercy to mankind. Which allows us to be elevated to a higher level of living after this life is completed. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son that whomsoever should believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life for God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved." What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Ben
A father gives of himself for his family. He takes their burdens upon himself. His wife like him teaches their children. A husband is supposed to provide the physical needs of his family: food, a home and upkeep of the home as well as set a spiritual tone for the home. A wife helps her husband as well as encourages their children in school and household chores and recreational activities. I have noticed in my own family that a father teaches his children how to interact socially and sets a moral standard and my mother teaches responsibilities and what is acceptable behavior. This is just what I believe I understand that parenting is not always simple or easy. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Ben
When I was a missionary, we taught on our first visit that God is our Father and Loves us. He sent a redeemer who was Jesus Christ who paid the price of sin and death. Jesus sends prophets to speak for him. Missionaries listen, they teach about things you may have been concerned about. As I've met different missionaries each has a different testimony or knowledge about God but I've noticed a real concern for others that they are blessed with. Missionaries sacrifice their own time and money to teach about Jesus and to help people where they are sent to. Missionaries are also called to help people and invite people to come to church and to learn what they need to do to have salvation in this life. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Ben
Political parties help express ideas of a group of individuals. The church encourages political participation in other words it encourages us to be aware of issues that face the societies in which we live. We do not endorse specific parties or candidates to vote for as a church. Individuals can share their opinions on candidates they like but they speak only for themselves. One of are beliefs is being subject to kings, presidents, rulers and in honoring, obeying and sustaining the law. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Ben
What clothes we wear and how we try to make ourselves look shows how we treat the body God has given us. When we treat ourselves with respect and try to look nice we help encourage others to also treat us with respect. We show our love to others by how we treat others no matter how they show themselves. I think parents can teach modesty by what clothes they wear and by complimenting their children when they take care of themselves and dress nice. Also giving children modest clothes when they are young encourages good habits as they grow older. Show more Show less
