Hi I'm Dave Davenport

I am a convert to the church, married for 45 years, have 6 children, 20 grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren

About Me

I was born in New York and moved to Arizona in 1952. My wife and I met in 1965 and we were married and sealed in the Oakland Temple in 1967. We have 6 wonderful children and 20 grandchildren. I served in the Army while I was in my early 20's. For the majority of my life I have worked in the Insurance field. My wife and I love serving the youth and the majority of our callings have been in the youth programs of the church. I am an avid scouter and have served in various poitions in the Boy Scouts of America. I have just been honored by the BSA by being awarded the Silver Beaver from the Grand Canyon Council.

Why I am a Mormon

The knowledge that our family can be sealed to us and that we can be together for eternity is the tie that binds me to the teachings of the church. Having a prophet to lead and guide us just as the prophets of the Bible did, assures me that we are heading in the right direction to return to live with our Heavenly Father one day. I know that the Book of Mormon was brought forth in our day as a second witness to the Bible. They both testify that Jesus is the Christ. Of this I have a firm testimony.

How I live my faith

I am the only member of the church in my extended family. I love to share the gospel message with them and try to live its teachings in all that I say and do. Genealogy work is something I love to do. I try to help teach others the importance of knowing where they came from and who their ancestors are. I help design picture genealogy charts to give to my friends and family. I have just retired. Cheryl and I have been called as the Housing Coordinators for the Arizona Tempe Mission and will serve for the next 19 months.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Dave Davenport
Heavenly Father puts in place who He wants to be the next prophet when the current prophet dies. He knows the beginning and ending of our days. We know that if our prophet were to die today, who the new prophet would be tomorrow. This is the choice made by Heavenly Father, not by us. It is His church and it is His decision. The senior apostle will be the next prophet of the church. Show more Show less
