Hi I'm Cameron S.

I studied Religion in University for several years and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the Church here in Canada. My parents joined the Church in the 1960's. I served a mission for the Church in the California Arcadia Mission. I enjoy studying History and Religion. I also enjoy comedy, dancing, music, theatre and other fun things! I love studying the scriptures and can testify what the Psalmist had to say about them (Psalms 19:7-11) My favourite scripture is Doctrine and Covenants 133:52-53 which reads, "And now the year of my redeemed is come; and they shall mention the loving kindness of their Lord, and all that he has bestowed upon them according to his goodness, and according to his loving kindness, forever and ever. In all their afflictions he was afflicted. And the angel of his presence saved them; and in his love, and in his pity, he redeemed them, and bore them, and carried them all the days of old;"

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it has been witnessed to me through the Holy Ghost that God does live, Jesus is the Christ and that they have provided the saving ordinances through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am learning the Gospel line upon line and precept upon precept (Isaiah 28:10). I became really excited about the Church when my brother came home from his two years of service in the mission field. This was when I was 14. I instantly became interested in becoming a full-time missionary. I went with the local missionaries on their appointments and did that for 4 years. I then served my own mission which I loved immensely, I learned a lot through that 2 year experience. I came home and went to University and again my learning took a new route that opened up horizons I never even dreamed about. After my mission I really learned what Christ's healing is all about and his Love for me. I slipped into a severe depression for about 3.5 years starting in about mid 2005. Confidence, self-worth and happiness never came easy for me. I reached out to God for help. At this low point in life a friend from days gone past was provided and through talking with that person it showed me God does care about his children and he works through others to meet their needs and my depression and anxiety have been healed and it is an absolute miracle. Because of my experiences I try to reach out to others and their problems that I probably could not have understood before. I have been tested even as Abraham (Doctrine and Covenants 101:4) and I pray everyday that through Christ's strength I can endure with joy. I am just here to help others and not to come across as being holier then anyone else. Through all my struggles I have always been very active in the Church and trying to be as the Book of Mormon Prophet Nephi says "Alive in Christ" (2 Nephi 25:25). Life isn't easy and I still have my row to hoe like everyone else but I love Christ and have a very strong testimony of him and I am learning still! Life is great!

How I live my faith

I make an effort to pray everyday and to read the scriptures so I can know their true meaning and to grow closer to Christ. I also read much of what has been written about them. I have served in many callings of service to others in the Church. I have a very strong testimony of the Atonement of Christ and know he is active in my life. I know Christ loves me so I try to share that with others so they can know that they are truly known and loved of God. I also believe very strongly that a religion needs to meet your basic needs and so to that end I volunteer regularly at a local Soup Kitchen among other service type organizations.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Cameron S.
I love the quotation from Wilfred Cantwell Smith (1916-2000) who was Canadian and a scholar of Religion. He wrote in his book, "What is Scripture?" on p46, the following "For Christians, God's central revelation is in the person of Christ, with the Bible as record of that revelation" Thank heavens for the Bible!
