Hi I'm Gregory

I grew up in the United States. I'm a husband and father. I work in energy trading risk management. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my best friend and sweetheart. We are the very happy, albeit tired, parents of a young son. In my rare free time, I enjoy reading, writing, and creating original artwork. Some of my favorite study and writing topics are political history, religion, and economics—every once and a while I’ll peruse a classical fiction or contemporary philosophy work as well. There is always far more to learn then there is time to learn, but I enjoy picking up what I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches true principles and has the authority to perform saving ordinances that allow us to return to, and live with, our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I have received a witness of the truth of the church through the Spirit of God which has brought peace to my heart and clarity to my mind. Furthermore, I have lived according to the principles taugh by the church and the result has been a fullfilling and happy life. My parents joined the church when I was very young. My father became friends with a fellow graduate student who is a Mormon. After looking into the church over the course of a couple years, my parents were baptized. I grew up learning the doctrines of the church. I was involved in church youth programs and Sunday school. I suppose I was a typical Mormon youth. Like anyone else, convert to the church or not, I needed to know for myself if the church is true. I was 18 years old when I first read the entire Book of Mormon. Upon completing the book I decided to pray and ask God if the book is true. Needless to say, my prayer was answered in the affirmative, and in a way that was undeniable to me. I know that God does answer prayers of faith.

How I live my faith

Each Sunday my wife and I attend a local church service in Eagle Springs. We both enjoy the opportunities we have to serve others in our congregation and community—living in one of the nation’s largest cities, we have a lot of opportunities to serve. Although we enjoy the time serving outside our home, some of our most cherished experiences are those inside our home. Every Monday we have a family night where we share some thoughts about the gospel of Jesus Christ, review and set family goals, and enjoy one of my wife’s delicious desserts—the part I enjoy most! Throughout the month another church member and I visit the homes a few families from the congregation. During these visits we share a brief message about Christ’s gospel and see if there is anything the family needs help with. These visits make for great opportunities to serve others and build close friendships.
