Hi I'm Dan

I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. I enjoy writing music, running, and tinkering with my computer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm originally from Texas, but I don't have much of an accent. Music has always been a big part of my life. I listen to music daily, and I also play guitar and piano. From time to time, I write music on piano and guitar. I served a full-time 2-year LDS mission in San Fernando, California from March 2006 to March 2008. I'm currently studying Computer Engineering at Brigham Young University and will graduate in April 2012. I also really enjoy exercising in my free time. Lately, I spend a fair amount of my time jogging and going to the gym.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life, especially during the years of my mission, I have noticed my Heavenly Father's hand in my life. I was born and raised a Mormon, but I do not attribute my current activity as a Mormon to that fact. My life in the gospel has been one of searching and asking to find out the truth of the principles I live for myself. This is one of the things that I love so much about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints--that we as members are exhorted to seek truth and learning wherever it may be found, and to ask God to know the truth of all things. As I have searched, pondered, and prayed, I have come to know that God does live, and that He has a Son, Jesus Christ, who has made it possible for me to rise above my own faults and weaknesses, and become something that I could not become of myself. Specifically, the teachings found in the Book of Mormon and also in the Bible have drawn me nearer to God. Living the teachings in these Books has brought me so much joy and happiness in life, and I know that they are the word of God. In short, I'm a Mormon, because the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought such incredible joy in my life, and I have found the fullness of that Gospel in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I make mistakes just like anyone. However, I know that through Christ, I can overcome my weaknesses and deficiencies. Knowing this, I live my life and strive to keep the commandments that God has given in the Bible and Book of Mormon. I strive to repent daily, knowing that I am not perfect, but that I can always be better. I draw strength to do right by daily reading from the Bible and Book of Mormon, and seeking guidance from my Heavenly Father through prayer.
