Hi I'm Jon Kailany!

I'm a total spur of the moment, fly-by the-seat-of-your-pants kinda guy. I'm outdoorsy, I'm am musician, and student, I'm a mormon

About Me

Oh, me? You what to know about me?? How flattering! Well, first off, if you would like a good story, I'm the man to tell it to you. I kinda have this obsession with making people laugh; I guess that is because I think I'm funny! I love to take the experiences of my life, and turn them into something that people can enjoy. Life is way to short to not have every moment enjoyed. About a year ago, I returned home from a mission in South Carolina, possibly the greatest experience of my life. I had the time of my life! One cannot describe the joy that comes from service unless it is given first hand. I really miss those that I grew to love during those 2 years. What I would have that opportunity again. School is a huge part of my life right now. Currently, I am a music student at Brigham Young University, in Provo Ut. Contrary to my profile photo, I DO NOT play the piano! I actually play the clarinet; I just thought it was a way sweet photo. Some people ask, "Why the clarinet?!" Well, I'll tell you why. When I was 10, my parents were extremely protective didn't want me to get hurt, (Can you tell that I was an only child?) so I was never allowed to play sports. I would start off pursuing a sport, soccer, baseball, paintball, track, and as soon as I would get hurt, they would pull me out! So one day, I was watching SpongeBob SquarePants on TV, and that is where I met Squidward, who introduced me the Clarinet. It was destiny.

Why I am a Mormon

So the question is, how did I go from Agnostic to a Mormon? Well, lets just say, it took a very long time, and it is a very long story, so I'll give you the shortened version. I was born into a part member family. (Mom was Mormon, Dad wasn't) My Mom was always very strong in her faith, and was always patient with us, not being so faithful. I was baptized when I was 8 years old, but I never appreciated it until I was 18. At that time in my life, I just needed more. I didn't pray, I had no Idea what I was doing here in this life. Well, over the course of 3 years, the Lord provided me with what I was looking for. I was able to become friends with some of the most amazing people in the world, and they showed me what this life was all about. About a year and a half ago, I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. It is! Since then, the Lord has shown me the truth I have always searched for. I have a reason to live, and I know why I am here. If I may give any advice, TRUST THE LORD! Show faith, and do things to show the lord how faithful you really are. -See James 2:18- If you pray, it shows God that you trust him, and If you search, It will show God how much you want Him. I know that God is my Father, and that His son, Jesus Christ is my savior. I know that with his help, I can do all things, and I promise the same for you as well. He is no respecter of Persons:)

How I live my faith

Right now, as a Full time Missionary, I spend my days from sun up to sun down preaching and teaching the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every morning, I start out the day with a prayer, and I ask the Lord to lead my Companion person I serve with, and me to people that are ready and searching

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Jon Kailany!
I show my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by striving to follow in his footsteps. I love the scripture in John 1415. "If ye love me, keep my commandments. I know that if we truly have faith in Jesus Christ being our Lord and Savior, and are grateful for His divine sacrifice, we will do all that we can to honor Him, and obay His word. Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Jon Kailany!
I like to think of it as Heavenly Father allowing us to keep 90% of it. Everything belongs to God in the first place. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jon Kailany!
Not at all. We just are so excited that God gave us a prophet! It is such a blessing to know that we are loved by our Father so much, that he would send us help. Show more Show less
