Hi I'm James

I'm a family man. I'm a businessman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in western NY with two sisters and without much religion taught in our home. As a young adult, I was looking for answers and found them in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Shortly after that, I served as a full-time missionary among the Vietnamese people in Houston, TX. I've been married since 2003 and my wife and I have 4 children. I left the full-time practice of law to have more time with our family and now help run a consulting program at a top-tier business school. Currently, I serve as the ecclesiastical leader of a young single adult congregation associated with our college town. I love my family. I love the young people of the church. And I love the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 19 years old, I realized my decisions weren't making me happy and I felt like I wasn't fulfilling my potential in life. As I looked for answers, I eventually read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was really a book written by prophets of God. I felt sure that it was and it changed the course of my life. Since that time in my life, I have done my best to follow the prophets' teachings and to repent or change when I come up short. I try to serve happily in the church and treat people that I meet with love and kindness. And I've done these things - hand in hand with my wife - I've been happy. And when life has been hard, I have felt help from heaven to get through safely.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do what's right. When my wife and I have decisions to make, we pray and think and try to do what's right. When our kids are having a hard time, we try to remember love and try to do what's right. When I am with family or friends or acquaintances, I try to show kindness and do what's right - no matter the circumstances. When things don't go as planned, or when I my trying doesn't quite get to "what's right", I pray, ask for forgiveness and help, and I try again.
