Hi I'm Douglas William P.

I'm a Mormon.I'm from Southern Alberta near the AlbertaTemple, I love my Savior

About Me

I'm a Father and a step dad, although at times can be difficult, I love being both. I assist adults with challenging disabilities to live more meaningful and independant lives. I enjoy mentoring youth through sports and feel rewarded when I see that they are having fun. I love the outdoors and enjoy being around my home or working in the yard. Just being in the company of my family is all I need, to know that my redeemer truly loves me.

Why I am a Mormon

My savior has cried "come unto me". By obeying the Lord's commandment, he has promised me peace, happiness and life eternal. After a breif, but struggling battle with cancer my father passed away in August 1985 and my marriage and new family was dissolving quickly before my eyes. I was lost, lonely and destitute.I could not understand why this was happening to me, I asked myself repeatedly Why? Within 2 months of these events occuring in my life, I moved closer to where I had grown up and began living with my oldest sibling. She and her family along with two of my other siblings and their family's were already members of the church. I was the youngest of 5 and in essence the most troublesome and rebelious.During this time living with my sister she asked me if I would like to come to church with them, at first I declined the offer, but as time wore on I decided that I would go, what could it hurt? The weeks turned into a few months and gradually my life was begining to become more peaceful and with a more meaningful direction. Finally I decided it was time to know more about this Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I began taking the Missionary discussions about the church and very soon it became evident to me that what I was being taught somehow made sense and the truthfulness in which it was presented was undeniable, even to me. I was challenged by the missionaries to read the Book of Mormon and pray about what it was that I was studying and to ask God, for myself to know if what I had discoverd was true. I gladly accepted this challenge and pursued studying, praying and pondering the scriptures and prayed to my heavenly father asking him for that exact answer, is this true! What transpired over the coming days and weeks of discussions was the answer to this prayer I knew into my soul that what was given to me was true, this wonderful transformation of my life and the knowledge of what my savior and his servant has done for my salvation was undeniably TRUE! My heart was full, a fullness such as I have never felt. I bear my testimony of what I know to be true, I know that Joseph Smith was a servant of our Lord a true prophet of God and through him the Book of Mormon and the Lord's church The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the only true church has been restored to the earth in these the latter days. I know that my redeemer lives even Jesus Christ and that he atoned for the sins of mankind even my sins and sacrificed his life that I might be saved that I might have joy, happiness, peace and life eternal. I know his church today is led by a living prophet, seer and revelator prophet Thomas S. Monson and he holds the keys of the lords church and preisthood which has been restored to the earth. My testimony means to me that as I do the Lord's will my life will be blessed through his promises to me as I live his gospel and obey his commandments walking in his footsteps and striving daily to become like my savior he will pour a blessing upon me that I have not room enough to recieve it. Of this I bear witness in the sacred name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

In the community I volunteer my time coaching youth in sports. In my Ward I have a calling to teach the youth in Sunday School as well as being the Secretary in the Stake Sunday School Presidency. I home teach two familys in my ward with my home teaching companion. By being in the service of my fellow man I am in the service of my God. I am on the lord's errand and he has an important work for me to do, to love and to be of good service to my brothers and sisters, to truly strive to be like him that I might have joy and happiness in this life.

In whom should we have faith?
