Hi I'm David

About Me

I'm a grandfather of five wonderful grand-kids, and father of three. My wife, Lynne had three children and we blended our family and now are the proud parents of six kids. All six kids are married, and I'm sure we set some record having 7 weddings, including our own in 4 1/2 years. I work from home and am looking forward to retirement next year. Lynne and I like to get away with our travel trailer and see the sights of this beautiful country. Our lives are blessed living in a great neighborhood, with many dear friends. I love to do yard work and work in my wood shop, where the sign on the door reads; "Grandpa's Workshop" "Broken Toys Fixed Here" Life is so good with a companion that loves me and loves to have fun. We enjoy working on things together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a loving family that attended church every week. I was raised in the Foursquare Church and enjoyed attending there. When I was 15 years old I met a girl that was a memeber of the LDS Church. I really knew nothing about her church, but she always seemed to be happy and enjoyed attending her church and all the activities that were available for the youth. I started attending some activities with her and found the youth there were very committed to their beliefs. I was pretty committed in my own beliefs too, but there seemed to be a glow with these kids and I was impressed with the way they lived their life. It wasn't long before I started learning about her church, but was quite resistant to the invitations to become a member. However as time went on I felt the desire to have the Missionary Discussions with the full time missionaries she invited to her home. I studied the material that they presented and through prayer and study gained a testimony of the truthfulness of it. I was baptized the year I graduated from High School and married that girl a year later. I've been an active member since 1970 and consider it a great blessing to have the gospel in my life for so many years.

How I live my faith

Having been a member since 1970, I've enjoyed living the teaching of the church. It has blessed my life in so many ways. Having a testimony of the teachings and truly having received answers to my prayers, the decision to live my faith was easy. Over the years I've been involved in teaching the youth as a Scoutmaster, I've helped organize family history projects, served in many leadership callings too. The opportunity to serve others gives satisfaction and a knowledge that the Savior is pleased when we are in the service of our fellow-man.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

David
One of the greatest discoveries I made was the belief that families can be together forever. Husbands and wives can be sealed for all time and eternity. The children that come along will be part of that eternal family unit. This made so much sense to me. Adam and Eve were together, not until death do you part, but were married forever, for death had not yet come into the Garden of Eden. It only makes sense to live your life here with someone you love and build on that relationship. Then someday be able to be together again in the next life. The revealed truths that families can be together forever was such a great comfort that I never knew existed. Show more Show less
