Hi I'm Garry

I'm a husband, father, grandfather. I grew up in Canada. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I married a beautiful, gracious woman when I was in college and we had four children. Those children were our lives and still are. I always made sure to be home in the evenings and weekends. Whatever they were involved in, we were involved in. Now they've all left home and we are empty nesters. But our children have married and now we have more children (in-laws, just like our own) and four grandchildren. Life with my wife is wonderful and delightful. We love and respect each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, but I came to a crossroads. Was there truth in the Mormon church? Was there a God? How does the world of so many people and so much suffering and evil fit into God's plan? Was there a plan? How would I know any of this? I came to learn from experience about a spiritual sense - I think of it as a sixth sense. I had to learn to recognize and understand it and then test it. There is a God. He is a loving Father and He has a plan and a purpose for each of us. He allows us to make choices and mistakes. Sometimes people suffer because of others mistakes or bad choices. But God will comfort us and heal us through his Son Jesus Christ. I know it because I've learned to understand that spiritual sense. I feel better about life. I know where I'm going and I feel peace and joy.

How I live my faith

In the bible, a pharisee asked Jesus what was the greatest commandment. Jesus answered that the greatest commandment was to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. To love God, I try to know Him by praying, reading scriptures, learning about the gospel, and caring about what God cares about. I think He cares mostly about us, His children and wants us to help each other come back to Him. I live my faith by trying to live as Jesus taught and care for my wife, my children, grandchildren, and my neighbors and others. I really try to live the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
