Hi I'm Daniel

I grew up in the western United States. I work, study and raise a family.

About Me

I am married with four children. I have been a creative director for many years, and I have returned to the university to further my education. I am very busy, but I enjoy spending time with my family. I like outdoor sports like hiking, shooting and fishing.

Why I am a Mormon

I always had faith in Jesus Christ. I attended several churches and had many good experiences growing up. Though these churches were filled with many good people, I noticed what was being taught wasn't always the same. I believed the Bible, but I noticed men interpreted the same passages of scripture in differing ways. Inside, I knew God would not establish churches with conflicting doctrines. I came to the conclusion that something important was missing. A high school friend was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I filled in for him at his home, while he was in Colorado, serving as a full-time missionary. I helped his mother around the house and emptied the fridge from time to time. She hosted the missionaries for dinner on a regular basis, and I would often join them. I wasn't interested in their message, but they were great people. It felt good to be around them. I just didn't know why. One night at dinner, a thought came clearly to my mind and would not go away, "They know something that you don't know. You need to know what they do." A day or two later, I knew in my heart that the thought I could not shake was inspired. I felt a new sense of peace when I listened to the prompting I had. I called the missionaries and listened to their message. They taught from the Bible and introduced me to the Book of Mormon. It contained the writings of prophets led away from Jerusalem many centuries ago. The missionaries answered my questions during several short visits in the course of a month or so. After studying and praying about what I had read, I asked Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ if the book was true. I received a personal witness of the Book of Mormon through the Holy Ghost. I knew for myself that, just like the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, the Book of Mormon was the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ. I recognized that I needed to repent of some things and prepare myself to be baptized. After my baptism, men with the priesthood laid their hands on my head and confirmed me a member of the Church. I received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. That gift has strengthened me over the years. It has been a comforter to me and has helped me to know and understand what the Savior taught. Trials don't go away, and I still make mistakes. Nonetheless, following the Lord brings me real happiness in spite of my trials. When I sit in church on Sunday or pray with my family, I I know I am where I am supposed to be, doing what I am supposed to be doing. It's a good feeling.

How I live my faith

My wife and I teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to our children at home. We work with the youth at church. I teach and advise a group of young men, and I also serve as a scoutmaster. The two jobs go hand-in-hand. We teach them at church to follow the Savior's example, and they learn how to lead, serve and care for others at scouts. It takes a lot of time, but it is worth every minute.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Daniel
Missionaries teach about having faith in Jesus Christ. They use the scriptures to teach you God's plan of happiness. The path the Savior established that leads God's children back to Him. They teach how Jesus overcame death and sin to help us find real happiness in this life and eternal life with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They will introduce you to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They will show you why the Lord restored His church. You will learn how Jesus has called prophets and apostles, just like in the times of the Bible, to teach His gospel and direct the affairs of His church today. Finally, the missionaries will teach you about eternal marriage, how our family relationships can continue after this life. Most importantly, they will teach that we are sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers prayers. Show more Show less
