Hi I'm Karen

I'm a Mormon. I'm the youngest of seven children. I am from the United States but my heart is from the Philippines.

About Me

I am a university student studying social work. I love people and am passionate about helping to empower and raise people out of horrific situations such as violence, abuse, and slavery. I love Asia, particularly the Philippines where I recently served a full-time (18 month) mission. My family gives me hope and I am grateful for the support they give me. My other passion is music, which I feel enhances the connection between our spirits and God's Spirit.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of ancestors who made sacrifices for me. I am a Mormon because of parents who set an example for me and did their best to raise me in a happy home environment. I am a Mormon because of leaders and friends who have loved, helped, and supported me throughout my life. But most of all I am a Mormon because I have personally lived, studied, prayed about, and felt the truthfulness of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

To me, the best way to live my faith is through constant service to others. Even more than the service I am asked to do by my local leaders, I love being able to reach out to others and help meet their needs.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Everything tells me there is a God! All of nature testifies that there is a Supreme Creator orchestrating the wonderful symphony of life on this planet. On a more personal level, however, I know God exists because of the "tender mercies of the Lord" spoken of in the Book of Mormon and by Elder David A. Bednar, a modern day apostle. Some would perhaps call these coincidences, but I have experienced too many of them in my life to consider them as anything but divine manifestations of God's awareness of and love for me. From things as simple as being able to catch the bus when I'm running late to things as profound as a letter written weeks before reaching me on exactly the day I needed it, the Lord has proven to me time and time again that He is there and is cognizant of me and my needs.
