Hi I'm Mark Webb

I am a husband, Father, Grand Father, Fire Fighter and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of six children and am just starting to enjoy the pleasures of grand children. I try to play a guitar, but am not very good, however, I do find it helps to relax me. I have been a scout and spent sometime being a scout leader. I have enjoyed performing in the scout 'Gang Shows' which gave me confidene to try some amature dramatics.I am currently a serving member of the British Fire and Rescue Service.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother and father joined the church before I was born. However, when I was 14 a more mature friend of mine (not a member of my faith) was going to venture scouts and other activities and he was telling me of the fun he was having. He wanted me to go with him. His activity dates clashed with my church youth activity dates. I knew that I had to make a choice. Over the next few months I prayed about the church, its teachings and especially about the the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. I wanted to know that If I did not go with my friend outside the church then I would be making the right choice. I did not receive a flash of light, a vision or a great feeling of power. However, I did have a small feeling of peace and confidence. Over the months I felt that continuing in going to church was correct. The years since then, as I have participated in the church, continued to pray and study the scriptures, I have received further and more powerful feelings of peace, confidence and conformation that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God and that Jesus Christ lives. I know this is the true church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I take an active role at church. I have helped in the youth organisation at a local level, organising physical and spiritual activities that are fun and informative. I have also helped on a larger scale to help train the youth leaders and organise larger events. I have helped organise annual community events called 'Mormon Helping Hands where we were able to help clean up and deccorate a community farm, and two charity establishments. I give talks, say prayers, teach and help out at church. I find that I have lots of oportunities to serve other members and the community as I serve in the church.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mark Webb
Yes the bible is the word of God. I read and believe the bible. I teach in church using the King James version of the bible. I believe the accounts from Old and New Testaments and enjoy teaching my children about the stories in the bible. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Mark Webb
I feel that raising children or helping to raise a child is the most important thing I can do in my life. Whether that is as a parent, uncle, cousin, grandfather, adoptive father or family friend. I believe my role as a parent is a role God feels is important and I have felt his support as my wife and I have struggled with the inevitable difficulties parenting brings. I have felt a great peace and confidence as we have followed the principles of the gospel, prayed for guidance and supported each other in our journey of parenting. I have been strengthened as my wife has supported me in trying to be a good father. I have been inspired as I have watched my wife be a good mother. I feel that we both have characteristics and attributes that help our children become adults. I have found that Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, patience, love and a good sense of humour has been a key to helping in our home. Add to this a weekly family meeting called a 'family home evening' when the TV is turned off and we talk, play games, sing songs, discuss family issues and laugh together has helped us. I thank my Heavely Father every day for the blessing of being a father and husband. It is not easy but it brings me so much happiness. I try to be the best at this as I can. Show more Show less
