Hi I'm Jared

I am a father and husband. I am software developer in Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I live in Texas. We have three children. We enjoy spending time together as a family, playing games, watching movies, going to the park, or other adventures. My wife and I enjoy spending time together talking, going on dates, play games and being together. I work as software developer and my wife is a linguist. We enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Their efforts was not enough to keep me convince me to be a Mormon. When I was in my teen years, I read the Book of Mormon for myself. I prayed to know of its truthfulness. God heard me and answered me and I know that it is true. From the point, I began to rely more and more on God and less and less on my parents. Now I am raising my children as Mormons. I know this is what God would have me do. I see the same pattern in them as they mature and become spiritually independent.

How I live my faith

One way that I live my faith is with my family. Each week, we gather together and hold "Family Home Evening" where we teach our children about the Gospel. We study the scriptures together. We sing. We act out stories from the scriptures. We play games. We enjoy a treat together. We pray together. We also daily read from the scriptures with them and try to apply them to our lives. Over the years, I have seen how our children have grown and learned from us. They have learned about our values and our standards in a world where so many young people struggle to find themselves. Our children know who they are and what is right and wrong. They are learning to make important decisions on their own and determining their own set of values and standards. The most important way that I live my faith is in my own personal life. I have a strong relationship with my God. I know Him and pray to Him often. I talk with Him about my life, my family, my job, my service in His church, and about many other things. I study His words from the scriptures daily and try to learn as much as I can about the Gospel and how to apply it in my life. I feel His spirit in my life as I go about my daily routine. He inspires me when I serve, when I teach my family, and when I am working. He gives me His peace in a troubled world. I know of His love for me, and I know how he feels about me, personally. From Him, I understand my strengths and weaknesses, and He helps me to overcome my weaknesses. The greatest expression of my faith is found in my daily devotion to Him.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Jared
The Book of Mormon is an abridgement of a record of a group of Israelites that left Jerusalem about 600 BC. God led them from the Old World to the New World, America. The Book of Mormon contains their stories of faith, their testimonies of Jesus Christ and the gospel as it was revealed to them. The purpose of the Book of Mormon is to prove the Bible is the word of God, and to show to the world that God speaks to men in every age if they will listen and have faith in Him. Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Jared
All apostles hold the keys (or authority) to govern the church. Only the apostle with seniority uses that authority to lead the church, or in other words, becomes the president of the church. Seniority mean they have been an apostle the longest. When an apostle dies, the president of the church along with the council of the apostles choose another apostle by revelation through much pondering and prayer. So by revelation an apostle is chosen. Seniority is directly controlled by God through the life and death of other apostles. An example was Pres Hunter who only served as church president for 9 months, but during that time he did some great work in establishing standards for members to live by. The Lord prolonged his life to do that great work. Show more Show less
