Hi I'm Tanner Hawkes

About Me

I'm pretty ordinary you might say. I'm 21 and i'm going to college just trying to figure out what I want to do. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. I love sports, I played soccer and football while in high school. Though I am ordinary, my life has seen amazing experiences, many of which occurred while I spent time in South Africa. Ordinary people can help shape history, and I hope to do that in some way in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was little, I always asked "why"? My family actually became quite annoyed at times because I asked so many questions and because of my inquisitive nature. Some of those questions have gone unanswered, even as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Yet, I am a Mormon because the teachings found within this Church answer the MOST important questions of life. Because i'm a member of Christ's Church I have happiness and love in my life. I honestly don't know where I would be without the Church of Jesus Christ. It has helped make me all that I am, and I have felt that this was the right path ever since I was a young boy. Something inside of me has just always assured me that this is what my Father in Heaven wants.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to become like Christ. I'm a really, really long way from that. Being in college, my roommate and I, at least monthly, go and visit different friends and speak with them about God, Christ, and the Scriptures. I also help to prepare missionaries by teaching them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how to follow the Spirit in all that they do. I just hope I can do the same myself. I love to be together with people and talk about life. I just like to be happy and have fun and get to know others and how they live their lives.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Tanner Hawkes
This is a good question. As a teacher of missionaries I feel I can more adequately answer this, in part, then other questions. If you will allow the missionaries to teach you they will talk about what is most important in your life and what brings the greatest happiness. They will speak to you as an individual and come to know you so that God may better speak through them. In all actuality it will be God speaking to you through his Spirit, the Holy Ghost. They will speak about why there are so many Churches and how you can find the truth. They will talk about why you are here on this earth and where we will go when we die. They will do their best to answer any questions you have. Ultimately they will sincerely hope you'll pray and ask God if their message is true and they will desire for you to be baptized and receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit. They will love you and you will in turn love them if you will sincerely listen. And they will leave all the choices up to you. They aren't their as salesman to force you into something, they are simply representatives of Christ there to speak as He would speak, were He here on earth. Show more Show less
