Hi I'm Margaret Anne

About Me

I am married, live in Utah, joined the LDS Church at age 21 in Upstate NY. We have 3 daughters, 3 sons-in-law and 8 grandchildren. I am a recently retired RN, have been a Temple Ordinance worker for 1 year, and serve with my husband in the Family History Center at the Utah State Prison.

Why I am a Mormon

During my college years, I searched for a Church to attend. I tried many, but just didn't feel comfortable at any. I gave up trying, and attended only when I went home to visit my family. A couple of years later, a Mormon Missionary became ill, was hospitalized, and I was assigned as his nurse the next day. He offered me a copy of the Book of Mormon, and briefly explained to me what it was. He gave me a reading assignment, which we discussed the next day. I was fascinated with the book. It was easy to understand, and answered many questions I had had for a long time. He was sent home to Utah, and 2 other Missionaries took over teaching me. Within 2 months, I prayed to find out for myself if what I read and had been taught, was true. I received an answer that was so overwhelming, that I cannot deny it! I chose to be Baptized, and have been richly blessed ever since. My family and friends did not agree, but didn't disown me either. Three years later, I had moved to Utah, met my husband, and was married in the Salt Lake Temple.

How I live my faith

It is important to regularly attend Church meetings. Weekly my husband and I attend separate meetings for men and women, then together Sunday School and a worship service for everyone. There are also meetings for children and teens. Every woman is visited monthly by 2 women. My companion and I visit 3 women. My husband and his companion visit 4 families. That way everyone receives at least one visit and help, if needed. Church members often are involved in service projects for neighbors, the community, or worldwide humanitarian service. In the past I have been a teacher for children and the organization for women. Every member who is willing is able to serve in some way.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Margaret Anne
We know that families can be forever. Friendships can also continue into the next life. Jesus Christ is the supreme example of how we should live. He is the only perfect man to ever live on the Earth. He set the example, taught us the principles, and suffered and died for our sins and was resurrected, so we could be also and live with Him and our Heavenly Father forever. Knowing that families and friendships can last forever should affect how we treat each other here and now. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Margaret Anne
If a couple is sealed in the Temple, by one having the sealing powers, they can be together forever. It depends on their worthiness up to the end of their mortal lives. Children that are born after the couple are sealed, have the potential to be with them forever. Children born before a couple is sealed, or children who are adopted, can be sealed to the parents, and have all the blessings of those born after the sealing ceremony. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Margaret Anne
The Priesthood is the power to act in the name of our Heavenly Father. It is given to men who have been interviewed and found to be worthy. Young men between the ages of 12 to 18 can hold the Aaronic, or lesser priesthood, and have certain responsibilities. At age 18 men are eligible for the Melchizedek Priesthood with greater responsibilities. Show more Show less
