Hi I'm James "Jamie" Shipley

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm married and raising four girls with and a boy as the caboose with my awesome wife. We do public school and have tried ballet, drama, piano, and small pets. We'll try many more things over the years. I like to take all my girls on dates, especially my wife. I lived in Scotland for two years while a young adult so I have a kilt. I studied at a private university. I represent a Taiwanese computer manufacturer. I work from home. In 2008 we moved to Tennessee from California. We now love the people of South.

Why I am a Mormon

I've chosen to be a member of the church, and stay in the church, mostly because I believe The Book of Mormon is God's work. As a teenager I read the whole book on my own and at the end, as I read the testimony of Mormon's son, Moroni, I knew that Moroni was real. My favorite reason for staying faithful is because prophets teach us that my family can be together forever through blessing found in marriage in the temple. My life is richly blessed by being a member. I'm grateful for this life I've chosen to live.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in family life. You may have noticed that you can't hide your true self at home. So we try to work, play, pray together. Once a week we strive to have family night were the kids take turns sharing a spiritual message. I am a Cub Scout, Cub Master. You know, the guy that gets to act really silly at Pack Meetings. I also visit and share a spiritual message with two families in our congregation monthly as part of the church's program to ensure everyone's well being. One of my favorite responsibilities of the past was being in charge of helping the full-time missionaries in our congregation work with the members to find people to teach.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

James "Jamie" Shipley
This answer is actually a simple. Like the Bible, it is written by prophets. Like the prophet Moses, who wrote much of the old testament including Genesis, the prophet Mormon took the writings from before his time and compiled a record he called, The Book of Mormon. Sometimes Mormon quoted directly from other books he had, and sometimes he condensed the story. Moroni, Mormon's son, took what his father had compiled and finished the record. You will find there is more to it when you look for yourself. Like the Bible, you should read it for yourself and see. Show more Show less
