Hi I'm Tim

I'm a husband and a father of four. I'm a illustrator and designer who loves draw and learn new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a big family the oldest of nine kids. Growing up with so many brothers and sisters was awesome, my mother is a very outgoing and energetic woman and I always felt special and encouraged in everything I did. I had a very active childhood we always seemed to be going somewhere or doing something fun whether it was going to the beach, the zoo, art museums or exploring nature with the boy scouts. I love to draw, I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, when it came time for me to pick a career I knew I wanted to be an artist. After serving a two year mission in Ecuador I went to college to study illustration, along the way I met my wife and we soon started a family. We have four wonderful kids and I aspire to give them the same active and fun childhood that I had growing up so we're always looking for the next great adventure. I really enjoy working in a creative field I design and illustrate for food packaging, toys, games, apps and children's books. I feel very blessed I have wonderful wife and family and we always have lots of fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church so my testimony of the church has grown slowly from the time that I was very young. A lot of my early faith was rooted in the Book of Mormon, I took a challenge from one of my youth leaders to study the book every day and pray about what I learned. I developed a genuine love for the scriptures, I knew by the way that I felt when I read the Book of Mormon that it was the word of God and I have never been able to deny that. I still love to study the scriptures, they continue to deepen my understanding and my love for the Savior Jesus Christ. One of the biggest faith building experiences for me was the two years I spent as a missionary in Guayaquil, Ecuador. For two years I felt like I had a chance to completely give myself over to my Heavenly Father and I felt his love for me in abundance. When we would teach about Joseph Smith being called to be a prophet the feeling of the spirit seemed to fill our souls with a affirming glow. My missionary service helped set a pattern that I have tried to live my life after ever since. I'm still growing and still learning especially now as a Father of three soon to be four. My faith is firm in the fact that this is the church of Christ and that He leads it today through His prophets and apostles.

How I live my faith

My faith is a big part of who I am. I find time every day to study in the scriptures and to pray. Every week my family gets together for family home evening where we conduct lessons and do fun activities. I try to spend a lot of quality time with my family, we eat dinner together every evening and read scriptures and pray together before we go to bed. Right now I am serving as the Young Mens President at church which means I get to work with the young men ages 12 to 18. We have a big group of incredible young men and I feel like I learn more from them then they do from me. We do lots of fun activities, participate in boy scouts, serve others and learn about the gospel. It's an amazing thing to be with a group of teenage boys who are actually enjoying themselves while serving someone who needs their help.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Tim
Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Like Moses and Peter from the Bible Joseph wasn't perfect but he sought to do Gods will and he sacrificed a lot in his life to proclaim his message. Under the direction of God he restored the church of Jesus Christ, translated the Book of Mormon and taught the truths of the gospel. One of the neat things about Joseph is that he lived less than 200 years ago, we can travel to the places where he lived and read many of the details of his life. In Joseph I see a very human man who earnestly sought to turn his life over to God and do his will. The stories and the histories I have read paint a picture of a man who loved to serve and help others, he was a tireless laborer who would sacrifice just about anything for someone else. Joseph's teachings help to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ into focus, the stories from the Bible transform into a continuing history one where prophets still walk the earth, a history in which we all can take part. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet that he was called of God to restore truths lost to the gospel of Jesus Christ, I see Gods guiding hand in the things that he did and hear the message of Christ in the things he taught. Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Tim
Isn't this awesome? One of the things I love the best about the Mormon church is that everyone takes a part in teaching and administering in the church. Every member has opportunity to serve, we serve two year missions when we are 18, teach lessons, and organize fun and spiritual activities. The more opportunities I take to teach and serve others the deeper my understanding of the gospel becomes. Serving together in the church makes everyone a participant in the work of the Lord and it brings the message of Christ to life as we take part in His work. I am grateful to be in a church where I am an active participant in teaching, learning and serving. Show more Show less
