Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm a software developer. I love smoothies. I love sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm graduating from college in a few months in computer science. As much as I love school I'm super excited to graduate. I really wanted to go to graduate school but I decided that working first would be best. Hopefully I'll go to grad school in a few years. Some of my hobbies are sports (particularly football and ultimate frisbee, but I like to play others as well), rock climbing, games, swimming, camping, and water sports. I really love movies! I love action, inspirational, chick flicks, drama, and sci-fi movies and any other movie with a good story. Some of my favorites are the Batman Trilogy by Christopher Nolan, The Pursuit of Happiness, Gattaca, October Sky, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Great Debaters, and Howl's Moving Castle. I'm trying to do some more reading. I started listening to Don Quixote and it's pretty funny. One goal that I would like pursue is traveling. I haven't done hardly any traveling in my life and so I think that would be a lot of fun. I come from a split family. My parents were divorced before I was born, and they both eventually remarried. Divorce and remarriage were definitely not an easy adjustment. Shoot, I am still adjusting! Now I have eight siblings: two brothers, three step-brothers, two step-sisters, and a younger half-sister. Even though we have our challenges, we also have a lot of fun together. We can be pretty competitive, I love it.

Why I am a Mormon

My dad isn't a member of the church, but my mom is. My dad was not a proponent of me joining the church and so trying to figure out whether I should get baptized or not was a difficult decision for me. Most children in the get baptized when they are eight, but because of the situation I was in I wasn't baptized until I was twelve years old. The reason I got baptized was because every time I went to church I felt something. I felt something when I went to Sunday school, I felt something when I learned the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I felt peace and the church made sense, I knew it was true. As I continued reading the scriptures, saying my prayers, and going to church my life has been filled with peace. It hasn't been perfect but I can tell that the Lord has blessed my life, with my job, with school, and in every other aspect. I owe so much to Him.

How I live my faith

I don't think I do anything extraordinary in living my faith. The main things I do is go to church, pray morning and night, and read my scriptures. I am trying to change my life to become more like the Savior, Jesus Christ. I want to be more like Him. I want my life to be in harmony with His gospel. This is definitely a work in progress, I have a lot of improvement to make. I do know, though, that with time and with the help of my Savior I slowly but surely will realize my goal. I think there is a lot more that I can do to live my faith. For example, I want try and be of more service to others (community and church). God has given me so many blessings that I would be ungrateful to share what I have with those around me.
