Hi I'm Devon Reese

As a full-time student, husband, and future neurosurgeon I love life! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am originally from Seattle Area, Washington, having moved there from Southern California when I was 13. I am currently attending college am in my third year. I was married Aug 07, 2010 to my wonderful wife. Most of my time is dedicated to studying and working but whenever I can I enjoy hiking and camping with my wife. My studying is devoted to Biology with an emphasis in Neuroscience. I graduate in one year and a semester. After which I will go to medical school to further my preparation for neurosurgery. Now and in my future I will diligently strive to serve my Lord Jesus Christ. I'll do it because I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this Church because I know that it is the way to fulfill my potential in this life and in the life to come. By the time I was 16 I did not want anything to do with any church having decided that they were good for some but unnecessary for others. I often felt that churches were used as a crutch to do good due to lack of personal will and motivation. Personally, I had come to understand that I was a powerful, trustful, giving young man with an extraordinary potential - I didn't need a church to teach me that. Shortly after turning 16 I was invited to an LDS Church activity where a young woman was listening to the missionaries for the first time. I can't remember what they said to her but I remember going home to pray and asking if I had a Father who knew more than I and if I was supposed to unite myself with this Church in the entirety. I received a very clear answer that came in the sense of peace and confidence. I then seemed to fall in love with the idea of becoming active in the LDS Church as if it was something that I had desired all my life. Through the Church, I quickly came to understand that who I am is due simply because I am a child of God, an "heir of God, and joint-heir with Christ". I have inherited this divine potential and it is fully obtainable only in the fullness of His Gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing all I can to go the extra mile in all that I do. In school and work I strive to lift those around me by being positive, honest, and hardworking. Furthermore, at Church I have taught Sunday School classes and organized service activities. I have no real background in teaching but I study the scriptures hard and pray diligently for the Lord to help me teach. I also love going and visiting people who may be in need - I especially love going with my wife.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Devon Reese
We believe that God is quite literally our Father. He wants us to grow up and develop a full understanding of who He is and everything about Him. We can accomplish this by coming to know His firstborn son in the spirit, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was sent by God, His Father also, to bring us home. The Holy Ghost testifies of this truth and is their messenger. Naturally, God loves us perfectly. He cares for our detail and wants us to be perfected. Show more Show less
