Hi I'm Kirt

I am a retired emergency room registered nurse for a major destination medical center and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I live in the Midwest. Our son is a Brigham Young University graduate pursuing a career in the law. He served a mission for our church in the western United States and works and volunteers in his community. Our primary interests are travel, family activities, and doing genealogy work.

Why I am a Mormon

I came into contact with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1981 while living in northern California. I was taught by wonderful missionaries. I felt almost immediately that the teachings were true. It felt as if I had always known what was being taught-as if I were remembering something I had forgotten. The missionaries asked me to read the Book of Mormon and to pray and ask God for guidance. I did most of the things the missionaries asked of me and my prayers were answered. When I realized that the things being taught were true I knew I had to do something about it. I was baptized by a man who I had become acquainted with through work who was a Mormon. The years have not dimmed my enthusiasm for the gospel.

How I live my faith

Our family is very active in our church. We have responsibilities in our respective congregations and I am blessed to work at our temple in the Twin Cities for the past twelve years. We try our best to live our faith each and every day. We have come to understand that the purpose of the Gospel of Jesus Christ-to change people's lives for the better. Some days can be challenging but we try our best to act as we feel the Savior would act in the same circumstance. It is a growing process and a lifelong pursuit to live as our Heavenly Father and Jesus would like us to live. We accept this challenge and feel strongly that there will be divine help along the way and great blessings and peace in this world and the eternal life in the world to come.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Kirt
I believe that the steady growth of the Church can be attributed to the same reasons I have stuck with it after so many years-it is true! We are "built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone." (Ephesians 2:20) We may know these things for ourselves, independent of any other person, through personal revelation from our Father in Heaven delivered to our hearts by the Holy Ghost. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." (Moroni 10:4-5) Show more Show less
