Hi I'm Laura Ann

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a piano-playing, research-loving, Spanish-speaking, European-dancing poet... I love life. The only things I don't love to do are sports. I am almost always talking or on the phone with a friend or family member.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the love of God is my answer to every question; I'm a Mormon because I know in my heart this is what my Savior Jesus Christ wants for me. It wasn't an easy decision; I was raised in a very academic culture with friends from almost every possible belief system... but one day I had to choose between popularity and what made me feel complete and whole (like I didn't have to fight anything inside) and I chose... this. What, eventually, made me truly happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith however I can! I teach the little 3-year-olds in my local congregation, and I teach "singing time" -- aka, cute songs about Jesus -- to all the children under 12. That's on Sundays. The rest of the time, I read from God's word, try to help out others (including the missionaries), and just be there as a friend for anyone who needs one.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Laura Ann
Mormon women.... well, we're awesome, just the same as women throughout the world =). Strong, powerful, driven individuals... often with our own share of heartbreak and sadness... totally and uniquely capable of doing the things God has individually (and collectively) put us here to do. The Mormon faith believes in the equality of men and women. We are all "begotten [born] sons and daughters unto God," as an early prophet explained. He loves us all, and he loves his sons as much as his daughters, and his daughters as much as his sons. We live on the same earth, eat the same food, experience the same trials, and are equally blessed to receive inspiration from God, to receive his help us in our daily lives. Of course, we're all different, and his love and help encompass each of those differences, too=) Como son las mujeres mormones...pues, somos increibles, igual que las demas mujeres en el mundo =). Claro que somos diferentes, pero Su amor extiende a cada diferencia, tambien =) Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Laura Ann
When I was little, my sister and I accidentally knocked over a display case of raspberry vinagrette in the grocery store. We weren't supposed to play around, but we did -- and we made a mess we couldn't clean up. Fortunately, our mom was there to help us out. This is basically how the Atonement works. Sometimes we make a mess of things in our lives -- we make mistakes, etc -- and we don't have what it takes to clean it up. But Jesus does. We can't make up for every mistake we've made, just like my sister and I couldn't pay for the bottles we'd broken -- but Jesus paid the price for every mistake, every "broken bottle", when he prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, died on the cross, and was resurrected the third day. And all he wants is for us to let go of those "broken bottles" and not look back... that, to me, is the most beautiful promise in all of humanity =). Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Laura Ann
Nope, but it's about the most rewarding thing there is to do! Show more Show less
