Hi I'm Clifton Todd

About Me

Right now, I'm a computer science student in college. I'm a big fan of skiing, hiking, fishing, and pretty much all other activities that let you get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature. I definitely love music of all kinds, including classical, acoustic stuff, and indie electronic as well. The thing I love more than anything else is my family.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was growing up, I was incredibly fortunate to see the examples of some incredible men and women who were members of the Church who gave themselves to the service of others. One man would organize projects where all of the youth in our congregation would go and shovel snow for all of the widows in the neighborhood. This man, we found out later, had cancer and was in pain as he shoveled, but he always smiled and never complained. The life of this man and the lives of others in the Church showed me what it means to love with the love of the Savior. It is the same love I feel when I read the Book of Mormon and read about the life of Joseph Smith, the Prophet. I think the teachings in the Book of Mormon have power to change your heart for the better. These teachings changed the hearts of the great people I know in the Church, and these teachings make me want to be better too.

How I live my faith

At church, I serve as a member of a service committee. We have organized fun service events like remodeling houses, serving up food at soup kitchens, and cleaning up trash in natural habitats. It's really fulfilling to give up time to get connected with the larger community and work together for everyone's common good. This is what I feel the Savior would do if he were here walking the earth today: he would be giving his whole life to the service and well-being of others. I'm really grateful that I was asked to serve in this position because it is giving me a chance to come closer to the Savior.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Clifton Todd
Welfare services help people who are facing difficult financial problems. The goal is to provide help enough so that people can get back on their feet and become self-sufficient again. When your friend is in a hole, you take them by the hand and lift them out of it. Show more Show less
