Hi I'm Lisa Dennis
I'm an educator & PhD. I quilt, run, read, & garden. I'm a daughter, sister, aunt, wife & mom to an IVF miracle. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I love to run in the mornings to help me relax and focus. I've completed three marathons so far and they are life changing experiences. I also enjoy quilting as a way to be creative and I love playing with my computer. I've taught elementary school computers and absolutely loved it. I am always in the middle of at least one book. I gained a love of gardening from watching my grandpas both garden. Everything tastes better when you grew it yourself. I finished my Ph.D. in education one month before the birth of our first child, our little IVF miracle. I'm using my degree to be the best wife and mother I can be. I love spending my days watching our daughter discover this amazing world.
Why I am a Mormon
I have never had one experience that would be the moment I was converted to the Church. Instead it's been a life time pursuit. Different experiences have helped me to understand different truths. Through praying I have learned that my prayers are always heard and answered. But I have also learned that many of those answers required patience on my part until the time was right. Prayer most often brings me comfort as I talk to my Heavenly Father and tell him about my successes and trials and what is heavy on my heart. The scriptures have taught me about my Savior and His life. His teachings have influenced my life only for good and I can find applications of the scriptures daily. Through constant reading I have learned that they are true. It is because of my testimony that I live a life of hope and peace. Even when things seem to be going completely wrong I am still able to have that heavenly assurance that I am not alone and I am loved.
How I live my faith
I live my faith daily. I pray every day because I need that help and comfort. I also read the scriptures every day. My husband and I read the scriptures together every night. We've loved reading the Old and New Testament together and it has been a great experience to learn about God together and share our thoughts on the scriptures. I also love teaching and learning about the scriptures on Sundays. As I've encountered trials in my life I've been able to say that, even while I've been in the middle of them, I've already overcome them with my faith. My life rarely works out the way I planned. But I've learned to trust God's plan.
