Hi I'm Gina Marie

I am a Untied States Marine Vet. I have a full time career and I'm a full time mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work full time plus I'm a full time mom and military wife. When I have time I enjoy playing board games, wii games, and teaching my daughter all the fun stuff in life.

Why I am a Mormon

Short version of the story is that I was going through an extreemly tough time in my life. I hadn't prayed in years, especially since my mother had died from Cancer almost 3 years earlier. I prayed that my daughter would be taken care of and that I could die and be done with this pain. I prayed that my daughter wouldn't suffer, nor see me dead, but just prayed that somehow it could happen that I could no longer be here. I woke up to my daughter waking up and being hungry. I gave her cereal and had her watch TV as I was going to go back to bed and wonder why I was alive. Then someone knocked at the door. My 4yr old daughter shouted "come in" as usually anybody who knocked was expected company. So, eventhough I never opened the door if I didn't know who was going to be there I felt I had to. When I opened the door I saw 2 missionaries standing there. First thing they said was can we share with you something about Jesus Christ. I knew then that this was God's answer to my prayer though at the time I didn't think it was the one I wanted. Once they came back to visit and share lessons with me, it became clear that this is the Church I had searched for all my life! When I was a little girl I used to pray about the things taught by other churches that confused me. Each time I would recieve the answer that was not what they taught. The answers I recieved were the same answers and teachings the missionaries gave. These truths are are what is taught by the Latter-Day Saints. This is how I knew it was the true Church- Christs restored Church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures, following the teachings of Christ the best I can, sincerely repeanting of my sins, and ensuring my daughter is taught about, knows, and loves Christ. I also am the Choirister for our Ward's Women's Organization called the Relief Society and I also do Visiting Teaching - which is where the women will visit each other in their homes, teach a message, and see if there are any needs to the women we visit. This is a way for someone to ask for help where they may not know who to turn to or be too embarrassed to approach someone for help. Needs can range from help moving to help feeding the family. We all truly care and love one another.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Gina Marie
Men are taught to treat women respectfully. I have never seen such a group of teenagers being taught how to treat a woman so well as I have in the LDS church! The Church encourages every member to work hard, live humbly, and be as Christ like as possible. This is exactly what the Mormon women represent. We have a women's organization called the Relief Society. This group not only helps to strengthen ourselves in the gospel but reaches out to people in need. Every woman 18 and older is a member of the Relief Society. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Gina Marie
The Lord gave certain responsibilites to men and women. Women also have many responsibilities in the Church, ones not held by men. I had a teacher of our Gospel Principles class teaching the basics that said simply - Women have been given the most important role on this earth as Mother's of Children. Men needed to feel important too. Now, that's not exact answer, but it's an easy way to put it. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Gina Marie
Number one is don't watch it. Lead by example and others will notice a difference in you for everything good that you do. Prayer is another thought. Pray for those who have an addiction or problem with pornography. If there is someone you know pray for them to overcome it or pray for people in general to overcome the addiction. Prayer is powerful. Use it often. Show more Show less
