Hi I'm Shanda

I love music and reading. I play the trombone and want to be a music teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read, hike in the mountains, and garden. I love music and play the trombone. I have learned all the instruments and how to teach them because I am a music education major. I can't wait to be able to teach students how to find joy, peace, and expression through music.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have prayed and sought counsel from my Father in Heaven. I grew up in in a family where I went to church regularly in the Mormon faith. When I went to college I realized that I had been leaning on my parents testimonies and that if I were going to live the standards of the church I better get my own testimony. I started re-reading the Book of Mormon and I would pray and ask if what I was reading was true. I always felt encouraged to be a better person and to be kind to others and this was part of how I knew it was true. I am a Mormon because I know my Father in Heaven loves me dearly and that He hears and answers my prayers. I know I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father with divine potential.

How I live my faith

I find great joy in serving others. I spend most of my time working with the young single adult women. We talk, laugh, cry, and learn about the gospel together through phone calls, visits in their home, and through text messaging and facebook. I find peace as I communicate with Heavenly Father and I find answers as I study the scriptures and words from the living prophets. I have served three missions. One was in the Houston, Texas area and two of those missions were as a Young Performing Missionary in Nauvoo, Illinois. I got to ride on a bandwagon pulled by two horses and share my testimony through song for two summers. I love watching how living the commandments of God blesses my life and the lives of others.
