Hi I'm Helen Elsa Clare

I'm a Mormon. I'm also a former skydiver; a BYU graduate, a psychiatric nurse, a wife and mother. And I'm a convert.

About Me

Hi, I'm a 40 year member of the LDS church. I am married to my sweetheart and have four grown children, two of which are returned Missionaries. I love to garden! My backyard is filled with citrus trees, fig trees and vegetables that we grow year round. I am now retired, but was a Psychiatric nurse in an active treatment hospital for many years.

Why I am a Mormon

I met the Missionaries through a member contact we met frequently and I took the discussions. They challenged me to read some selected passages in the Book of Mormon and gain-for myself-a witness of its truthfulness. I spent some time and effort in prayer that night I asked to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I felt a wash-the only word I can use to describe it-of peace that started from my head and swept through my entire being I had my witness and knew it was true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example in my community for good-by performing service in my neighborhood-small things really, like watering the trees that line my street offering my neighbor small gifts on special occasions offering to mow the lawns of unoccupied homes in my neighborhood sometimes it is as simple as smiling at the check out girl or giving a sincere compliment to uplift someone else. I give service in my church - I am a Church Service Missionary working in the New Family Search Family History department-it is a home based mission where I attend weekly internet meetings and answer calls from all over the world regarding our New FamilySearch website people love their families and want to assist their ancestors who have passed on. My husband and I also work in the Orlando Temple here in Florida every month.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Helen Elsa Clare
The Book of Mormon changes lives! It is another testament of the Savior-the very Christ who walked the earth in Jerusalem did not leave those in the Americas without knowledge of Him an unconditionally loving Savior would not leave half of the world in darkness instead, He would provide them with prophets, seers and revelators testifiying of him in tandem with those ancient prophets recorded in the Bible. As I read the Book of Mormon, I came to know them-they were here in the Americas, raised families, had times of peace and times of intense wars, times of waning faith and disobedince, times of great faith and humility, times of miracles times of struggles. And they were visited by the resurrected Savior, who coming was prophecied and long anticipated by a righteous people. I gained a testimony through prayer-prayer to gain a testimony requires faith, patience, and diligent study to acquire the knowlege and information necessary to ask if it is true. Show more Show less
