Hi I'm Susan

I'm interested in History and Politics. I love to read and talk about books. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a part time children's librarian and a full time mom. I love to be with my family. One of my favorite activities is being in the same with room with my children and hearing them tell stories and laugh. Another favorite past time is watching my children play sports! I love to read and enjoy meeting once a month with my book club. I also love genealogy! I keep busy helping with my children's schools. I am also interested in politics. I love to see so many more people speaking up about their political feelings!

Why I am a Mormon

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Say Saints because I know in my heart that Thomas Monson is a prophet of God. As a young teenager I prayed about the Book of Mormon and and received a warm feeling in my heart and soul that it is a book from God. It has been translated from an ancient record to help us in our times. The Lord didn't just speak to men in the bible. He loves all his children and spoke to those who lived in ancient America. They wrote it down and that gives us the Book of Mormon. Just like today, God speaks to a prophet who leads and guides us in our troubled world. I know that when the power of God was lost in the centuries after Christ died, it had to be restored to the earth and that restoration came through the Prophet Joseph Smith. God's power is again on earth to perform miracles and perform saving ordinances such as baptism with proper authority.

How I live my faith

I serve my church by working with the youth. Right now I am helping train teachers and leaders to work with youth. I also help plan a week long camp for Young women ages 12-18. I love it. The teenagers are so energizing. I also have some women who I am responsible to visit each month and see how they are doing. If they need help or are just a listening ear, I can be there for them.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a member of the church is great, I have a church family to support me . The strict standards of our church help me to raise my children, and protect them from the social ills of our day! Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Susan
Women do not hold the priesthood because, in the Garden of Eden the Lord assigned the men to take the Leadership role. I don't have a problem with this. Women have many opportunites to serve as leaders. Women are the leaders of a world wide womens organization in the church, The Relief Society. Women also lead the Young Women's organization and the children's organization, Primary. The president of each women's organization serves on committees and councils on all levels and they add an invalubale resource to all planing and decsion making. I have served as the president of each of these organizations in my local area. I have learned leadership skills that I have taken on to the work place and other volunteer organizations. My leadership skills learned at church have given my confidence and abilties in all areas of my life. Show more Show less
