Hi I'm Bethany

I am a mother, wife, dancer, figure skater, artist, coach, and Public Health Educator. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, my name is Bethany. I am a mother of three beautiful and energetic girls, wife to a veteran US Navy Officer, dancer (ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, lyrical, and pom), figure skater, coach (dance, figure skating, and some gymnastics), and Public Health Educator (focus on Infectious Disease and Mental Health). Finally, I love serving others and spending time with my family and friends. But, most of all, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family that is active in the church. My parents are converts to the church (my mom converted from the Reorganized Church or the Community of Christ). Since I was young, I have known that this was the church of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. There isn't a specific point in my life when I knew the Gospel was true, I feel as if I've always known. Although, I have had pivitol points in my life when I have been reminded the love Heavenly Father has for me and that His Gospel is true. Just like every person, I have had my ups and downs, but if you remember the Lord and put my faith and trust in him and you can feel comfort, peace, joy, healing, and enduring love. I chose to be a member of His church because I know that it is true. I wouldn't be where I am in my life if I didn't know that. I have prayed, studied the scriptures and learned for myself that this Gospel is the one true chruch. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, lived on the earth and suffered struggles during His ministry. He bled for us in the Garden of Gethsemane and then died in the most cruel way by being hung on a cross, just so that we (His brothers and sisters) can return to our Heavenly Father in righteousness. I believe that Joseph Smith, did see God the Father and Jesus Christ. He helped restore this Gospel. I know that he, with the aid of Heavenly Father, did translate the ancient record that is now the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is true scripture (just like the Bible) that came from prophets who lived in the Americas before and after Christ lived on the earth. Our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, does recieve counsel for us directly from God the Father. Also, there is a life after death. When we are sealed to our families in the temple, we can be together forever and death is just a short time for us to be apart because we will see each other again. Being a member of His church is the greatest blessing in my life, and I will never forget the things the Lord has done for me.

How I live my faith

My faith is something that has a great impact on me and the was I live my life. I can truly feel the difference when I am making correct decisions, and when I am not. Some days are definitely easier than others, but I know that I am happier when I am putting my full heart into will of our Heavenly Father. I am a stay at home mom. This is definitely the most difficult job. At times I feel like the mother of the year, and at other times I wonder why Heavenly Father even blessed me with such precious packages. But, I have grown SO much spiritually since I held my first daughter in my arms. Each day I have the opportunity to teach these young minds and help them develop their own testimonies and be closer to their Heavenly Father. I am also currently holding a calling at church as the 1st Counselor in Young Women's over the 14-15 year old girls. This is the first time I've had the opportunity to work with the young women, and so far I am enjoying it. It is so wonderful to be able to bear my testimony and counsel these young women during very difficult times of their teen years. It also helps me keep myself in check spiritually . . . I need to be strong in order to strengthen others. I am also a visiting teacher (which means I have been given a list of women of whom I try to visit each month and help them with any needs they might have whether it be child care to just being someone to talk to). Getting to work with the women of the church individually is also a great way that I have built my testimony and learned to understand the love of the Lord.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Mormon temples are sacred places of worship. They are the most beautiful buildings inside and out. It is where we can feel closest to Heavenly Father and take time to build ourselves spiritually and commune with the Lord through prayer. We also perform ordinances or ceremonies for individuals who have passed away (usually members of our family or our ancestors) without getting a chance to learn about and accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ on earth. When performing this work for the dead, it is a truly wonderful experience because you can feel the joy and peace these individuals have (through the power of the Holy Ghost) when the ceremony is completed.
