Hi I'm Becky Lyn

Mom of 4, step-mom of 5, grandmother of 10 (and counting), author, foster mother to 45, entrepreneur, botanical goddess, Mormon.

About Me

It took many years of studying, praying, searching and investigating for me to find The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When I finally found the one faith that could answer all of my unanswerable questions, I knew I'd found home. Baptized at the age of 19 in 1976, I have never wavered and everyday I thank my Father in Heaven for the opportunity to be a part of this--the true restored gospel of Jesus Christ upon the earth--and to partake of the eternal blessings that are offered to His children. I am a real live daughter of Heavenly Father and that makes me of royal birth. I have my own little princes and princesses--many of them. I have 4 birth children, 5 step children, 10 (and counting) grandchildren, and have had over 40 foster children. They mean the world to me. My prayer is that I will one day be gathered in the temple with them. About my life--I am an author and know that Heavenly Father has given me a whole lot of colorful experiences so that I have fodder to work from when I write my stories. I am also a novice herbalist, making my own household cleaners and personal health and beauty products. I have the privilege of working with 4 year olds at Church and love their innate desire to do the right thing. They bring me joy! I've had over 70 addresses in my 55 years. Sometimes first thing in the morning I have to think for a moment where I am. I just try to grow where I'm planted! And best of all, every morning when I wake up, the Gospel is still true!

Why I am a Mormon

Wow, knowing what I know, I can't NOT be one. The Church is true. That's the bottom line. I need the power and the patience and the beauty it brings to my life. The gospel is simple and pure and true. I love everyday.

How I live my faith

First and foremost, by being kind to others and showing them compassion, patience and unconditional love in the way Jesus Christ did. I try to begin each day in a devotional which includes scripture study, good music, and prayer so that I may know the life of my Savior and the will of my Father in Heaven. I love to serve in the temple and magnify my callings: Teacher to 4-year old children and Visiting Teacher. I also love doing humanitarian work. Last but not least, I try to have gratitude for everything I've been given, even the trials which have taught me so much, and to fulfill my stewardship of taking care of the earth we've been given.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Becky Lyn
Joseph Smith was a young man with a burning desire to know the truth. He wanted to know so badly that he was given the overwhelming task of restoring the true Gospel to the earth in these the latter-days. He was our first prophet in the restored Gospel and he sealed his testimony with his own blood and died a martyr. I sincerely hope I can work to live worthy enough to one day meet him after I leave this life and thank him for his part in my life. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Becky Lyn
This was one of the important points to my conversion, actually. I could not understand why people should get wealthy off the tithes and offerings of the people they serve. Jesus Christ did not. The early apostles did not. I believe that our leaders and clergy are compensated through receiving extra energy, time, and stamina. Their reward is knowing that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are pleased with them for fulfilling their callings. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Becky Lyn
Having the Mormon missionaries in your home is a great way to learn what it is that our faith believes in and practices. They can answer any questions you may have about where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going. They will also teach you about being a child of a Heavenly Father who loves you and knows you personally. They can help you to understand why certain things--perhaps tragic things--happen in your life and how you can endure them with joy. I would encourage anyone who has questions about this Church, the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth, to invite these representatives into your home. Challenge them with tough questions that have to this point remained unanswered. Show more Show less
