Hi I'm Elizabeth

I grew up in a small town in Utah. I work as a web and copy writer.

About Me

I am a young single adult woman. I graduated with a BA in communications with a print journalism emphasis. I currently work doing web content management for several different websites. I am also studying in the Professional MBA program at a local university. I love the outdoors-hiking, camping, fishing, skiing-pretty much everything outside. I love to help people find employment.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But the wonderful thing about the gospel is that everyone is encouraged to find his or her own answer to know if what we have been taught is the truth. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and I feel the Spirit testify to me that it contains truth and light from the Savior every time I read it. I have prayed many times and I just feel peace and light and happiness when I pray. I know that this Church is true.

How I live my faith

I am the service co-chair in my local congregation. This means that I am in charge of all service projects and activities for our 300 plus ward members. We regularly visit a care center and sing to the residents. In the spring and fall, we work to help people clean up their yards. We are constantly moving people in and out in our neighborhood. We coordinate helping a single mother care for her daughter while she studies. At Christmas time, we take care of several families so they can have Christmas and we support underprivileged schools. We work at a cannery that donates food to those in need. We clean our Church building and we are constantly looking for more ways to serve. While I have been asked to do this calling in the Church, I know that it is the duty of every Christian to do as Christ told in the parable of the Good Samaritan "Go, and do thou likewise." I have a strong belief that serving others and helping others in times of need is what brings us true happiness in this life and draws us closer to Christ. If I am ever feeling down, I reach out to someone else, and suddenly I feel better. If I am ever feeling worn out, I find someone more worn out than I am and help them, and I gain energy. If I am happy, I find someone who needs some happiness and invite them over. That is how I live my faith.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

God gave all of His children agency-the ability to choose. We are not forced to do anything in the Church. We do know, however, that God has given us commandments and direction that can bring us greater happiness in this life by following them. And we know that the way to show God our love is by keeping His commandments. While young men have a duty to God to serve missions, young women do not have that same duty, but they are free to serve. I chose to serve a mission for my Church because I love the gospel and I wanted others to know the joy I have in following the Savior. Show more Show less
