Hi I'm David L.

I was born a Mormon, but only recently learned what that REALLY means...

About Me

I enjoy living. Been doing it for a while now; even so, I don't think I am quite done- yet! I work in the computer industry, the software side. I used to write programs, but these days I don't get as technical as that. I enjoy helping people, so what I do gives me some satisfaction every day. Always been very studious and adventurous; those two together have resulted in my having some pretty good stories to tell!

Why I am a Mormon

Simple, really. I am of this faith because when I asked my Father in Heaven as to the truthfulness of these things He verified to me that they are, indeed the truth. My knowledge and study of other faiths did not come with any verification of their validity such as I experienced when reading The Book of Mormon. No other church gives one such a comprehensive understanding of Scripture and the principles that when grasped allows one to fully realize his place in the great and Eternal Plan of Salvation. No other Church has the Priesthood. The authority to act in His Name. The literal power of God, wielded only through an abiding Love of the Lord and a Love of one's fellows, with the sole purpose to lead with justice and mercy each who will but listen to gain Faith, Repentance, Baptism, the Gift of The Holy Ghost, and make Sacred Covenants with his Heavenly Father that lead one and his Family to Eternal Life. (Together!)

How I live my faith

I am our Ward Activities Director, so I get to help plan and put together many fun and wholesome activities. Our next big event is Ward Temple Day, and we have big plans to include all, from curious investigators and non-member family to children and youth and of course those who have been to the Temple before. Other than events, I study the scriptures EVERY day, and thoroughly enjoy our Church website with all the references and resources it makes available. I use them frequently to share the Gospel with others, too. I look forward to weekly attendance at church; partaking of the Sacrament and renewing my Baptismal promises to my Heavenly Father. I never miss a chance to bear my Testimony when we have Testimony meeting because sharing it helps me to protect and nurture it; as I would never want to lose it. I am always humbled and honored to be asked to participate in giving a blessing or other Priesthood Ordinance. Going to the temple is so special words are hardly able to explain. I will say that what goes on there brings one about as close to heaven as we can get and remain alive!

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

David L.
Because of a righteous man by the name of Mormon who recorded and preserved the history of his people for posterity, and sealed the record up unto the Lord for it's safe keeping, until at the right time he was then privleged to bring it forth to the world thousands of years later as a testament of the divinity of Jesus Christ from his people's viewpoint.
