Hi I'm Gary

I started a Farmers' Market in my community and served two terms on the city council. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a Master's Degree in Adult Education and work at a small technical college. My wife and I live in Idaho. She works at the same technical college and teaches in the field of healthcare.

Why I am a Mormon

I have found by experience that I am most happy when following the teachings of the Church.

How I live my faith

I served on the Planning Commssion of our community for 11 years and prior to that, I served on the City Council for two terms. Living principles of the gospel of Christ helped me to make descisions that were good for the community as a whole.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Once tithing is received locally, it is then redistributed based on local budgetary needs. Budgeted items can include operation and construction of churches and temples around the world. Plus tithing is used for operation of the four different colleges and universites the church operates in the United States. Where per capita income in many countries is lower than the U.S., it is more than likely that tithing income from the U.S. is used in other countries to maintain physical church facilities that they would not have the means to do independently. What is the difference between attending a Mormon Church and a Mormon Temple?

Sunday worship activity and weekday events, such as scouting and social events take place at a Mormon church. While ordinances such as marriages and baptism take place in a Mormon temple. In fact Mormon temples do not operate on Sunday. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No, I served a full-time mission, but I have two younger brothers who did not. They have both served in the military and have probably been good examples of living gospel principles while in the service to country. Show more Show less
