Hi I'm Lindsay

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my thirties, a mother of five young children. I have an MFA in creative writing and I write children's novels. Writing and reading and teaching are my passion, and I try to promote all three whenever I can, particularly to children!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but I developed my own testimony when my father died when I was eleven years old. I had to ask myself if I believed in a God that would take my father, and after much prayer and study, I decided that I did believe, and more than that, I knew that God loved me. That he would see me through everything. That I could one day see my father again in the next life. I'm also a Mormon because of the teachings of the church. They ask you to do good. They teach you to love others. They teach you to commit yourself to your family, to put your family first in all things. What could be better than that? The church points you to the savior, Jesus Christ, in everything, and that is what makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I rely on the Lord every day for guidance. Through prayer and scripture study and journaling, I make decisions that I hope he will approve of, and the more I do this, the more peace I feel, despite the sometimes difficult circumstances of my life. But really, my life is so good because I have my family and the gift of the Holy Ghost to comfort me and strengthen me. All of my blessings stem from my Heavenly Father, and as my children grow steadily older, I see how very much my Heavenly Father must love me, because I love them the same way. I serve in the primary presidency right now. Primary is the place where children gather to worship each Sunday and it's such a great place to be because you get to feel the angelic spirits of the children. They are so full of love and trust, and all it takes is one sincere compliment from you to get them to beam. Just the other day, I prayed to my Father in Heaven to send someone my way that I could serve. A few hours later, a woman I visit regularly called, needing someone to talk to. It wasn't convenient—I had so many other things I needed to be doing—but I remembered my prayer, and I spent nearly an hour listening. My entire day went so well after that, I felt like Heavenly Father made up the time for me because I was willing to serve.
