Hi I'm John

I grew up in Alberta, I am a father, husband, journeyman carpenter and architectural technologist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Alberta all my life excluding a mission to Utah. I am fortunate to have a talented wife and three wonderful girls. I enjoy running, disc golf, and rock climbing. I have diploma's in Multimedia Productions, and Architectural Technology and am also a certified Journeyman Carpenter. I currently work as an architectural contract administrator.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were converts to the church. They instilled in me a love for the gospel. I was always given a choice and told I would make the right decision. I from a young age knew that the gospel is true and Jesus Christ is my savior. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I have read it and prayed to know for myself. I know Joseph Smith the prophet of the restoration. He saw God the father and His son Jesus Christ. I know there are prophets on the earth today who guide and direct this church today. I have a burning testimony of the love Jesus Christ has for each of his children. I know he has atoned for us and we can return to live with our father in heaven. I know it is important for each of us to show love for our fellowman and serve each other. I am grateful for the knowledge that I will be reunited with my family after this life. I know that the temple is the house of God, and that therein we may do work to connect the human family together for all eternity. I feel a great peace in knowing, and sharing this. being a Mormon is more than what I do it is what I am.

How I live my faith

After college graduation, I married, and moved to Edmonton, Alberta. We had our first girl while I took some distance-learning courses. My wife and I were called to organize activities for the ward. I also, taught rock climbing for youth summer camps for two summers. Feeling the heavy responsibility of being a husband and new father, my wife and I went to the temple. I was impressed to “get into a trade.” I withdrew from my schooling to pursue carpentry. Three weeks later, I started a new job. A few months later, at the temple, I felt impressed to move to a small town and become an apprentice. My wife supported the decision, and the next weekend I found a job and a home to buy. While in small town Alberta, my wife served in Primary and cubs, and I served as a Sunday school teacher and a Scout leader. We renovated the house, and had our second girl. Three years into my apprenticeship, I felt impression once complete, I'd become an architectural technologist. A few months before moving, we had our third girl, and I injured my eye at work. Through a priesthood blessing, my sight has fully recovered. In Edmonton, I served as a ward missionary, presided over the young fathers, Councillor to the bishop, the youth, primary, Sunday school leaders, and assistant to the high priests, and graduate with honors. I have employment where I use skills from all parts of my education. I know the Lord guides me, and through patient and conscientious effort the Lord blesses my family.
