Hi I'm Luc Despres

I'm passionate about gaining knowledge, self-development, family, and sharing truths that have impacted my life.

About Me

I am an ambitious, easy going, bold, truth seeker. I love to rise above the status quo and impact lives with whatever resources I'm blessed to receive from the Lord. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since January 29th 2006. I am married (met my wife Emilie in the church) and have three beautiful children. I am an entrepreneur at heart and love to inspire people to overcome barriers, small or great. I love to mountain bike, go to the gym, share the gospel - Especially my conversion story - and to spend time with my loved ones. I've been through some of the most crazy challenges in my life and as a result, I had more reason to turn to the Lord. The main reason for my faith in Jesus Christ is the mercy He has shown me, regardless of what I've done in my past. If I had not turned to the Lord when I did, I know I would either have gone to jail or lost my life. Just a few months before meeting with the Elders, I was an Atheist. I had no belief in God and didn't want one. But then... one night, as I was just going about my business, a thought came to mind - "What happens to me after I die?". That's all it took. That simple question haunted me for over a week, until I finally decided to search for the answer. During my search, I came across many doctrines, but when I heard the plan of Salvation, I knew I had found my home. Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it is the same organization established by our Lord Jesus Christ. I was brought up in the Catholic religion. When I started searching for God at age 20, I started to attend the Catholic church and became very active. I started to read the Bible daily and came to know God through Christ. As I continued attending the Catholic church and living the Catholic lifestyle, I came to realize through the Bible that the Catholic church did not resemble the church established by our Lord in the Bible. This left me a tad lost as I thought this was it. I then started searching for the Lord's church by reading different religious books from various religions. I read countless books until I felt impressed by two books on two separate occasions. Those books were The Book of Mormon and The Doctrine and Covenants. I felt very impressed that these books were speaking to my soul. About 1 1/2 weeks later, I was met on the street by two young missionaries in suits and ties and they asked if I had ever heard of Joseph Smith. I was able to say yes because he is mentioned in the two books I felt impressed by. I invited them over, they taught me about the restoration of the Lord's original church and asked me to pray and ask God if what they taught me was true. That same night I prayed and asked God if their message was true and an incredible feeling of peace came over me and I got the feeling that I had finally found what I was looking for. After attending church twice, I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Lord's church. In the time I've been a member, my life has been transformed. I have had strength I didn't know I had in the midst of major trials and have felt happiness I never knew existed. I met my amazing wife at church and now have 3 beautiful children. I have come to know Christ on a very deep level and have learned to trust God in all things. I testify that this is Jesus Christ's true church and that He is at the head of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by establishing high standards, sharing my experiences, and giving my time and energy where it is embraced. I serve the members of my ward by sharing my experiences and helping them set personal goals for themselves and their families. I am also responsible and privileged to serve specific families within our ward as a home teacher - making sure that their spiritual and physical needs are being met. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and have great hopes that all who I encounter will one day embrace it. I believe that the only one reason an individual would not embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ is simply because he/she doesn't truly understand it. Once understanding is established, one cannot help but be drawn to it.
