Hi I'm Nancy A.

I share six children and 25 grandchildren with a fabulous man and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite thing to do is be a grandma. I love music.

Why I am a Mormon

Members of my family have been Mormons for several generations. Most of both mine and my husbands ancestors crossed the plains in the late 1800's. We also have several European ancestors that came to America and on to Utah. This is a legacy I treasure. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior and have a close relationship with my Heavenly Father through prayer. I know they are always there for me. Whether it is as simple and giving a talk in front of an audience, receiving comfort after the loss of a loved one, or struggling with health issues I ALWAYS know I will be fine. Family is big for me. We enjoy doing activities together. When our children were young we held a "Family Home Evening" each Monday night. We ALWAYS had a treat as well as a lesson, music, special numbers giving each family member an opportunity to participate. Now we invite all of our children and grandchildren that live close to come the first Sunday of the month for a "Family Home Evening." And yes, sometimes it gets pretty wild here. I enjoy reading the Book of Mormon. I find guidance, answers to my prayers, and comfort from the examples of those I read about. It gives me strength and the desire to become a better person.

How I live my faith

I enjoy being a "visiting teacher" and visiting with my "visiting teachers" each month. Each month two ladies come to my house to visit, share a message and see how I am doing. I have a partner, another woman assigned to visit with me three or four other women. We learn a lot from each other and have an opportunity to serve each other when needed. Every Sunday I help in the library finding pictures and supplies to help teachers with their lessons. Last Sunday I was invited to give a talk in church. I was very nervous but feel fine now it is over. :)

Who was Joseph Smith?

Nancy A.
Joseph Smith is a prophet called by God to restore his church in this day. He was taught by the Lord and trained to become a great leader. He translated the Book of Mormon so we could benefit from it today. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Nancy A.
We believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ, His son and in the Holy Ghost. We believe they are three separate and distinct beings but are one in unity of purpose. I know they love me very much. Show more Show less

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Nancy A.
The purpose of welfare services of the Mormon Church is to help people that are struggling to get back on their feet while keeping their dignity by giving of themselves in return for what they receive. When my father came to live with us and when our children who have left home have come back to stay with us they have always paid a predetermined amount of rent. Either money or services. That has helped them feel self sufficient and have a good feeling about themselves. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Nancy A.
I think sometimes it may be perceived that we only help Mormons but that is not what we believe. We believe we are ALL Gods children and we must help each other because that is one way God answers many of our prayers -- by letting us help others for Him. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Nancy A.
After this life I believe I can be with my husband, children, parents, grandchildren, grandparents and other ancestors and progeniters forever -- but I must do part. Show more Show less
