Hi I'm Damond

I grew up in a small farming community in Utah. I love my family, singing and China. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have 6 kids and a wonderful wife. Our kids are 9 years old and younger. We live in Gilbert, AZ. As a Financial Planner, my work takes me around the state of AZ, primarily in the Phoenix area. Both my wife and I feel very blessed to have been raised up in the church. I speak mandarin and had an opportunity to spend six months in Shanghai. I'm fascinated by the Chinese culture and language. I love sharing insights about China with them and will listen to a internet broadcast in mandarin to keep up on the Chinese. My wife and kids are kind to endure through it with me. During the hot summers, we love to spend time swimming together. We are trying to teach or 3 and 1 year old to swim.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family and we always went to church. I have known that the church was true from a very young age. I remember asking for myself if the church was true. I didn't didn't get an answer immediately. I waited hoping to get an answer like Joseph Smith, but as I lived the teachings it felt right. I have had many spiritual confirmations since and I know that this is the true church and it is lead by a living prophet and directed by Christ.

How I live my faith

As the Ward Mission leader, I help assist members in our ward with sharing the gospel. I think one of the best ways to share the gospel is through service. This past week one of our neighbors was moving out. Her spouse was in Hawaii and she was basically doing most of the work by herself. She had rented a semi-trailer and with the help of her brother and father. They had filled the front of it with boxes and smaller items. In visiting with her, I asked if I could get a few people together to help her with the bigger stuff. She hesitantly said we could help. That night I made a few calls to other people who attended our church and knocked on a few our neighbor’s doors. The next evening we had six guys and in two hours the semi-trailer was full. I later told her that one of the things I loved about my church was that many people are willing to help when someone is in need.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are the house of the Lord. They are a place where I can go and feel at peace. There is a special spirit there.  I also go to the temple to help me get inspiration to know how to be a better husband and father. In the temple we are taught the gospel. In the temple we also preform ordinances that will bind families together forever and that allow us to be able to return to live with God. We also do work for ancestors that didn't have the opportunity to participate in these essential ordinances. Show more Show less
