Hi I'm Evan

I've lived in Alaska for more than 50 years, I publish books, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been the publisher and editor of an outdoor magazine, producer of an outdoor television show and outdoor videos, and the host of a call-in talk radio program. I'm now a book publisher. I have 9 children, 25 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. I have logged more than 4,000 hours of flight time in Alaska, in both wheel and float planes. I'm a serious recreation hunter and fisherman, equally comfortable casting a flyrod or using bait, or lures. As a writer I have been published in many national magazines, author of three books, and publisher of more than 300 books by other authors. I have the best job in the world; I get up in the morning, put on my fishing vest, pick up my fly rod, kiss my wife goodbye, tell her I'm going to work—and she believes me.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a life-long member having grown up in Utah. When I moved to Alaska more than 50 years ago, for the first time in my life I was challenged about my church membership and beliefs. As a result, I studied the scriptures and prayed for a stronger testimony. I can't remember when I didn't have a testimony, but when others questioned precepts I had always taken for granted as being true, I needed a more sure conviction. As a result of my ernest study and sincere prayer I received the testimony promised in the Book Of Mormon. My life's experiences have shown that following the principles taught by the Savior are the way to joy and happiness in this life and a solid hope for Eternal Life with Him and my Father In Heaven when this life ends and life beyond begins. I know that my Father In Heaven loves me, knows me by name, and is interested in my welfare. I know he sent His Son as the perfect example to follow—and to be the Savior of all mankind. I'm grateful for this testimony and for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I have been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life; serving in various callings including: primary teacher, youth leader, high council, bishop, district presidency, mission presidency, and temple sealer.
