Hi I'm Blaine

About Me

I am from Arizona and live in that state with my wonderful wife and children. Many of mine and my wife's ancestors were of the first organized settlers in many of the communities in Arizona and also in the surrounding areas. It is exciting for me to witness the building up of new temples in places like, Snowflake, Gilbert, The Gila Valley and also in Colonia Juarez, Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I had good parents (and grandparents) who brought me up with an interest in being baptized at eight years old. I enjoy family and much of the interest I find of being a mormon is a love for family. I also am a member because I love to read scripture. I also love to pray and ponder about scripture and in doing so my understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ has increased. When I was about 10 years old some of my friends at school gave me a copy of the new Testament to read. I am thankful for those friends of mine, of another faith, who showed their love for me. I kept that small pocket book copy of the New Testament close to me and often read through it. In my later years I began having a keen interest in reading the Book of Mormon. I was married by then, and had an occupation that kept me at lengthy times away from home and family. During those time I found reading the Book of Mormon as being very comforting to me. At this time I also read through the Bible in it's entirety, both the Old and New Testament. I began to cross reference the teachings of the prophets and that of Jesus and also began praying to God more earnestly. I felt the desire to return to full activity into the church of the mormons and also am now able to be at home with my family full time.

How I live my faith

I serve in my ward and in my area as a ward missionary. I did not take the opportunity to serve a full time mission in my earlier years. But after renewed obedience and activity in church, it is a blessing for me, my family, and also for those of my neighbors in whom I can share the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also serve as an instructor of a Gospel Principles class with members of my ward. Preparing for the lessons has helped me to continue gaining a better understanding of the gospel. I love sharing truths taught to me.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Mormons believe the Holy Ghost is the third personage of what many refer to as God or the Godhead. We believe that the main purpose of the Holy Ghost is to testify of the reality of the other two members of the godhead, or more particularly, God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. We also believe the Holy Ghost bears witness to us of truth as we read or hear scripture. Sometimes the Holy Ghost also may warn us of an impeding danger. Show more Show less
