Hi I'm Carli

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 29 and have been married eight years. My husband and I have one rambunctious toddler. We chose to adopt, because I am unable to have children. I studied journalism in college and have been a freelance writer, editor and photographer off and on for 10 years. We live in a small town where my husband owns a couple of business. We enjoy backpacking, hiking, lots of rockclimbing, canyoneering, fishing and riding 4-wheelers. I've played the cello since elementary school. Somehow I ended up with a collection of more than 100 cookbooks; it's my favorite genre, even though I don't cook nearly as much as I like reading about cooking. My iPhone is filled with talk radio, podcasts and audio books.

Why I am a Mormon

I have studied out the doctrine. I have prayed about the Gospel, The Book of Mormon, the Prophet Joseph Smith, and the Prophet Thomas S. Monson. I also believe in the 13 Articles of Faith stating the core beliefs of the Church. I absolutely know that all these are true. I cannot deny this truth. Therefore, I have been baptized and made covenants to follow the truths I have learned.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the Church and in my community. At church, I've had assignments working with adult ladies, young children and, currently with 16- & 17-year-old teenage girls. I love teaching the gospel and don't mind public speaking. Among other service work in my community, I've participated in cleanup projects, cemetery documentation and programs for youth.

What is the Church's position on abortion?

Carli
The Church is against abortions, except in some circumstances such as rape or incest or when the mother's life is at great risk. Even then, abortion should not be done without prayer and speaking with a Church leader about the situation. After years of waiting, my husband and I have adopted a son. It pains me to hear about a life being ended when we have so wanted to have children in our home. There are many good families who are ready and willing to make those children part of their forever families. I pray that mothers will realize the significance of this decision for them and their child. It is a life. Show more Show less
