Hi I'm Devin Knighton

I am a Public Relations doctoral student, consultant, husband, father of five great kids and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Ph.D. student studying public relations. Before coming back to graduate school, I spent more than 10 years developing, directing, and managing public relations programs for technology startups. My dream is to become a public relations professor, where I can teach, research, and consult. My wife and I have been married for 15 years and have five great kids. We love to explore new places, learn new things, and meet new people. We enjoy movies, games, food, and books.

Why I am a Mormon

I've never questioned whether there was some kind of a God, some kind of a Supreme Being. I felt that the thought of having life just end with nothing else seemed harder to believe than expecting that something would happen after death. But when I was about 13 years old, I had a sacred experience where I came to know that God knew me. I learned that he is not only real, but that he has a purpose for me in my life. Since that day nearly 20 years ago, I've come to know that God has a purpose for everyone's life here on earth. I've also come to know that there is no way I can feel close to this wondrous, marvelous God without the help of his son, Jesus Christ. I've made mistakes in my life that I regret. But I feel free of the guilt because of Jesus Christ. I know his sacrifice is real can cleanse a soul and heal a wound. I love the Savior Jesus Christ. Through him I can return to live with my Father in Heaven. Through Him I have hope, and I know that everyone else who choses to believe in Him can also find hope, meaning and purpose in life.

How I live my faith

I try each day to follow the example of the Savior by being kind, helpful, and happy. Although I make many mistakes and fall short of the way He lived his life, I know that this sacrifice was meant to give me the hope to keep trying each day to be be a good person. I think people are inherently good, and I enjoy the opportunity to connect with their goodness and to learn from it. When life becomes challenging, uncertain, and stressful; I find it helpful to admit my weaknesses and to seek Heaven's help for peace, direction, and strength.
